Re: [Elecraft] squelch/mute on am/ssb

2013-05-16 Thread Arie Kleingeld PA3A

Lewis,

go into the Menu, SQ-main. Then turn fully clockwise until '= Sub Pot'
shows up.

That will do the trick.
(Ofcourse this is hidden in the manual in the CONFIG Menu part.)

Is there anyway I can mute the receiver up to a certain signal strength.
Like squelch on FM but for AM/SSB?

Thanks

/and/ press '1' while in the same menu to get 'SQL = ALL' (vs. 'SQL = FM').

Re: [Elecraft] Squelch and sub receiver not working?

2009-02-22 Thread KC2UEE

BTW, I forgot to add that the squelch only seems to work in FM mode. Is this
the case? Also, when using the sub receiver in FM mode, even if I adjust
squelch to the maximum, it will not go to full quieting.

I'm confused now.

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong here, but I set SQ MAIN=SUB POT. As
 I
understand it, with this setting the main receiver and sub receiver
 squelch
is now controlled by the RF/SQL SUB pot. Squelch works fine when using
 the
main receiver, and I can see the squelch setting on the sub readout on the
LCD. However, switching over to the sub receiver, when I try to adjust
squelch, all I get is a SQL=NA message, and squelch levels are not
adjustable. Is there something I'm not doing right here? How do I adjust
squelch on the sub to obtain full quieting?

Re: [Elecraft] Squelch and sub receiver not working?

2009-02-22 Thread KC2UEE

OK, nevermind... turns out that the sub receiver was not in FM mode, hence
the reason squelch wasn't being adjusted.

I've also read on the reflector that squelch is only applicable to FM modes.
I hope that squelch will also be incorporated into other modes as well.

RE: [Elecraft] Squelch

2008-05-01 Thread KJ3D
Thanks, Joe -

for looking this up for me. We must have different editions of the K2
manual - info is on page 103 of mine. I swear, however, that I looked
there. I must have turned two pages and skipped over it.

Anyway, I've learned something new today. Thanks.

Have a good one,

Hi Tom,

Yes, the K2 has a Squelch feature. It's accessed through the secondary menu
(tap MENU, then tap DISPLAY). Squelch (SLCH) is the
first item on the secondary menu. See page 100 in the K2 manual.

with no audio - but otherwise apparently working fine. A touch on the
key or PTT switch brought it back to life, but only for 10 seconds).

Somehow, the HSE program turned squelch full on on my K2 (ser 4991
 with SSB and DSP).

I cannot find a reference to squelch anywhere in the Elecraft
literature, including how to turn it off.

I did get it off, but it required installing HRD and installing all
the sliders. One is for squelch and it was full on. Turning it off
and exiting the program solved the problem.

 My question is...

What's the story on squelch? Is there one? How does one access it -
specifically how do you turn it off if it gets turned on by a third
 party?

 TIA,
