RE: [Elecraft] XV: Coax for interfacing
Hey, thanks for asking a question I actually could answer! And, if it helps, that's a question that's been asked many times before... Re: [Elecraft] XV: Coax for interfacing
Also, keep in mind that the level is only 0dBm .. it doesn't take much of a problem to make that 0dBm go away :) Make sure you use good quality BNC connectors, especially when you start daisy-chaining XVs (speaking from heavily-vibrating rover experience) de w1rt/john On 9/20/07, JT Croteau <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > On 9/20/07, Ron D'Eau Claire <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > The signals between the XV and your K2 are all below 30 MHz, no matter which > > transverter you are using. > > Ya know, I'm an idiot. RE: [Elecraft] XV: Coax for interfacing
The signals between the XV and your K2 are all below 30 MHz, no matter which transverter you are using. The K2 feeds 10 meter RF to the XV which then up-converts it to 50, 144, 222 or 432 MHz (depending upon the transverter), and then the incoming RF from the antenna is down-converted in the transverter to 10 meters and sent to the K2. So anything that's reasonable for short runs between the XV and K2 on 10 meters is fine. Ron AC7AC -Original Message- Well, I took the plunge and bought an unopened XV50 kit along with a K60XV from a user on this reflector. Thanks to all who replied to my previous post. Now, regarding the coax interconnects between the K60XV and XV units. Can I use mini-coax such as RG-316 for these low power interconnects or should I go with something beefier because of the higher frequencies involved especially when I go to add 222 or 432? I'm merely asking because I already have a fair amount of RG-316 on hand including the appropriate BNC connectors. However, I have no problem paying for the right stuff if it is an issue. The XV50, and future XV's will always be located right next to, or under, the K2.
