Re: [Elecraft] K3 Frequency Memory Editor
Thanks its the 1.1.252.0 version and yes I am using it to program the K3. I found a later version (1.3.3.0) which I downloaded and tried and got the same results - I did note 3 "Writememory2state.Ontimerexpiry" messages. Hope this clarifies things. I set it to the required frequency and mode (50.250 and Data) yet when I upload that info to the K3 the mode becomes Data Rev. This does NOT happen on any other band (and I use the memories to get me to the PSK frequencies for all bands). On the other bands the frequency is correct and the mode is Data. I have tried changing the mode on the K3 to Data then reading that into the K3 Frequency Memory Editor and then re-exporting it back to the K3 - but the result is the same. I guess it must be obvious what I am doing wrong but it sure is puzzling me at the moment!! If I try to set memory frequencies for transverters in the XVn memories above 2.3GHz I get an error message, and if I set a memory directly on the K3 and then read it back with the utility it shows up as a frequency that has no obvious relationship to that set on the K3. This seems to be the case for any band above 2.3GHz. A previous version of the utility worked OK on 2.3 and 3.4GHz but failed on 5.7GHz and above, and the error message with that version makes me think its an overflow in a 32 bit integer variable used to represent the frequency. 73 John G3XDY K3 #00689 __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

On the KX3 Yahoo group, in the files section, is an example file that you may open with the K3 Frequency Memory Editor and then optionally edit and/or download to the KX3. Re: [Elecraft] K3 Frequency Memory Editor with Win98SE
Well, the .Net Framework is supposed to work on Windows 98 SE, so I can at least give it a try, if the prerequisite software is installed and does the job. I'm still using Visual Studio 2005 (and not 2008 or 2010) for the Elecraft utilities because the newer compilers generate EXEs that don't run on Windows 98 SE or Windows ME. I'm aware that at least some of our community migrates older-but-working-fine systems into the radio shack... But I can't ignore the development productivity I get from using a modern runtime library, and I needed a grid control for this effort. The .Net framework's grid control is adequate and is free for customers. 73 de Dick, K6KR -Original Message- From: Joe Subich, W4TV [mailto:li...@subich.com] Sent: Thursday, August 05, 2010 9:23 AM To: Elecraft Reflector; die...@comcast.net Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K3 Frequency Memory Editor with Win98SE Dick, > I'll do some poking around to see if I can offer a Windows 98 SE > version. Re: [Elecraft] K3 Frequency Memory Editor with Win98SE
The K3 Frequency Memory Editor requires the Windows .Net framework (2.0). It can be installed from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856eacb-4362-4b0d- 8edd-aab15c5e04f5&displaylang=en The setup.exe and K3FreqMemoryEditor.msi files should be in the same directory. Setup.exe looks for it there. It appears that we currently require Windows Installer 3.1 or later. I'll see if I can influence that. Windows Installer 3.1 is an Windows 2000 and later product, Installer 2.0 is available for Windows 98 SE. Can you try installing Windows Installer 2.0 from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=cebb acd8-c094-4255-b702-de3bb768148f I'll do some poking around to see if I can offer a Windows 98 SE version. I hope it is possible. Re: [Elecraft] K3 Frequency Memory Editor
Dick has done a terrific job. I had lots of irregularities in my settings. When initially setting the memories I obviously took little note of what VFO B was doing. I had strange VFO B frequencies and modes which always messed me up when I went split. Dick's program provides that much needed visual listing. I also had inconsistencies in how I set up the band segment buttons and I was able to clean up my scan ranges which were in a state of chaos. 73, Mike K2MK -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/K3-Frequency-Memory-Editor-tp5374927p5376551.html Sent from the [K3] mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
