Suspect both are true to some extent. People (even hams) who CAN afford to make large purchases are pulling back on doing so out of fear of an unpredictable economic future, which is exactly what the economy does NOT need right now. Deflation feeds itself on fear, inflation feeds itself on greed... I certainly wish Elecraft the best of luck.
