Re: [Elecraft] P3 Artifacts
Jim, Have you tried re-dressing the ribbon cable routing inside the P3? That is an important item. Check the P3 assembly manual to make certain the cables are routed in the proper manner. 73, Don W3FPR On 12/6/2013 1:57 PM, Jim wrote: Any guidance on the artifacts I am seeing with the P3? I have the problem that has been discussed in detail. When I tune to certain frequencies, I will get a blip on the screen that is 5-6 dB above the noise and I have the classic artifact that is ~3 kHz wide and 4-5 dB above the noise floor, that is just below the tuned frequency. I have the ribbon cable dressed to the LHS of the chassis and the coax on the RHS (when looking at the P3 display). __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Yes, the ribbon cable is routed in the proper manner per Elecraft recomendations. Re: [Elecraft] P3 Artifacts On The Waterfall Display
Do you have any transverters or other possible spurious noise sources hooked up? I noticed that once I hooked up my Elecraft 2 M and 70 cm transverters that noticeable spurious lines started showing up. I haven't had time to try to chase it down, yet. 73, -- Dave, N8SBE Original Message Subject: [Elecraft] P3 Artifacts On The Waterfall Display From: Jack Regan ae...@sbcglobal.net Date: Thu, March 15, 2012 5:52 pm To: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net I have noticed that there are several white lines showing in the waterfall display that do not move when I change frequency. Some are fuzzy and some are well defined narrow lines. All these lines are vertical and would appear to be signals except that when I tune toward the signal they never change their position on the display. Real signals can be tuned into and the waterfall shows their change to the center of the display. It is really noticeable on 10 20 and 50 but does not seem to be happening at all on 15 and 40. The rest of the bands have the problem to a lesser degree. Any ideas? Hi Jack, If you take a screen shot, do they show there? 73, Paul -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/P3-Artifacts-On-The-Waterfall-Display-tp7377177p7377414.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
