There really isn't much that would have needed to change since
'98.  AFAIK, the only signifigant difference between now and '98
is tramp.

Is ssh.el still being maintained? The newest version I've seen is at

http://www.splode.com/~friedman/software/emacs-lisp/src/ssh.el

which is 1998/10/03.
