Re[2]: Frequency Spectrum Chart

1998-03-30 Thread ron_pickard
 Ed et al,

The following info was obtained fresh from the NTIA web site below:

 http://www.ntia.doc.gov/osmhome/allochrt.html;

To order the Spectrum Wall Chart from the Government Printing Office,
 specify the following:
 1996 Spectrum Wall Chart ((stock #: 003-000-00652-2),$3.25)

Address mail orders to: U.S. Government Printing Office,
Superintendent of Documents, Post Office Box 371954,
 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 15250-7954.

 Place phone orders/inquiries at: 202-512-1800
 Place fax orders/inquiries at: 202-512-2250
Place fax-on-demand orders with U.S. Faxwatch at: 202-512-1716

I believe the chart from the Omega web site, as previously mentioned, is
the same as the NTIA chart with some advertizing included.

It's important to note here that I would've referred to a supreme pizza
with the works instead of only a pepperoni pizza. :-)

 I hope this helps.

 Best regards,
 Ron Pickard

You can buy a nice big chart of USA freq allocations from Grove
Publishing. See:

http://www.grove.com

The chart is 24 high x 36 long, covers 3 KHz to 300 GHz, and has more colors t
n a pepperoni pizza. My copy was created off of the US NTIA March 1996 database,
o maybe there's a newer version. The cost was under $25. Only negative is that t
y ship it folded, not rolled.

I understand that the US government publishes an identical chart, but I don't
knowof a contact. Maybe US GPO? The cost was rumored to be only $10.

battery back-up systems -- CE Mark

1998-03-30 Thread Alexandru Guidea
Hello everyone,

Maybe someone in the group knows the following information.

Which are the electrical safety standards applicable to battery back-up systems
with respect to CE marking? EN 60950 states that it is not applicable to battery
back-up systems, which are not integral part of the equipment.

Is there any concern about the type of batteries employed in these systems? Are
any national environmental regulations limiting the choice?

Thanks.

Yes; CB Scheme Deviations to IEC 950 are listed in CB Bulletin No. 89A I.

I don't believe you will find CB Bulletins on the Web as they are

 Jody,

We currently use a Fluke 41B Harmonics Analyzer to do preliminary
harmonics testing. We have found it to be satisfactory for performing
 preliminary measurements.

I was never able to find a reasonable flicker meeting for
 preliminary testing of voltage fluctuations.

Please let me know if you find one through this forum.

Henry:

The NTIA has a frequency allocation chart for the US on their website at:
http://www.ntia.doc.gov/osmhome/allochrt.html

Its a PDF file. If you have access to a large plotter, the output is a rather
colorful wall chart.

EN55104, immunity requirements for household appliances, has been
referenced in the OJ. But, CENELEC withdrew the standard as of
1997-08-01 and replaced it with EN55014-2 which has not been referenced

Chase EMC still produce the wall chart as Gert Gremman suggested.
Unfortunatly they see to no longer produce the nice laminated version
that was available a few years back, but its still packed full of
useful information.
