Barry,
Try Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation at "www.ab.com", they have
had their DOC's available online for a couple years. Follow the links to
certification - CE - DOC, and pick a product.

Re: DoC in Website

2000-11-09 Thread eric . lifsey

Barry et al,

I'm getting ready to commit to a web-based system of publishing DoCs in an
attempt to survive the rapid changes in the growing list of CE standards.

In a few weeks we will no longer ship hardcopy DoCs with our products as we
do today. I'll subsitute these DoCs with a note directing the curious
reader to our web page. In fact, I meet tomorrow with a database designer
to get this project going.

A good example of online DoCs would be Allen-Bradley, they've published
their DoCs online for years, the link is:

The unit of ionizing radiation mentioned (uSv/h) looked unusual - not
surprising, since I don't work in that field.

I looked it up on the web, and found some interesting background on that
unit of measurement:

Circuit Breakers

2000-11-09 Thread Richard Watson

Hi

Does anyone know what the clearance requirements are between the contacts of
a circuit breaker when tested to the requirements of EN60898 and EN60934.
I ask this question because I need to ensure that a minimum distance of 3mm
is present as required by clause 2.6.2 of EN60950.

Best regards

Rich Watson

RE: Directive 96/29/euratom

2000-11-09 Thread Crabb, John

In the latest edition of EN 60950:2000, Safety of IT Equipment,
Annex H, Ionizing Radiation, you will find the following changed
text : -
"At any point 10cm from the surface of the OPERATOR ACCESS
AREA, the dose rate shall not exceed 1uSv/h (0.1 mR/h) (see note).
Account is taken of the background level.
NOTE - These values appear in Directive 96/29/Euratom."

The previous limit was 0.5 mR/h at 5cm, taken from ICRP 15.

I had noted that it is surprising
a) that nobody requested this change until now - shows you how
(un)important it is, and
b) that nobody objected to the Euratom Directive when it was
proposed, as the new limit is different from that found in IEC 60950
and in 21CFR, Subchapter J.

Which brings me on to a long-standing "beef" of mine :
Given that the X-ray requirements for monitors in UL1950 and
21CFR are to all intent and purposes the same, can CDRH not
be persuaded to drop all their paperwork that has to be gone
thru to get an Accession number for a monitor, if it is already
UL Listed or Recognized ?
