Russia EMC and safety applicability

2006-06-27 Thread emc-p...@ieee.org
Bonjour,

We have this external box which takes the DVI output from a computer or laptop
and converts it to broadcast-quality video. Our division wants to sell this in
every market possible and, in particular, Russia.

The unit has an external power supply, so my opinion is that this power supply
must be approved by the GOST-R for the safety aspect.

For EMC it is not so clear if a video converter would fall into the
definitions of the GOST scheme and must be tested according to their
particular regulatory scheme. Mainland China has a list of product that have
to be tested that is based on the customs code. Does anyone know if a list
like that exists for Russia?

Thank for your help,

It's quite normal for signal-to-noise ratios for consumer-type equipment
to be expressed in terms of A-weighted noise, measured electrically.
Professional equipment normally has it expressed in terms of ITU-R 468-4
(CCIR 468-4) weighted, quasi-peak, noise.

Re: EN Standards

2006-06-27 Thread emc-p...@ieee.org
Dear Grace,

We are buying ENs for our database customers via SEE Luxembourg (

http://jsappl.etat.lu/see/home.html?lang=ENG). The text is the original
CENELEC/CEN version (without front page of SEE). But pre-payment is required
(we are managing this as service for our clients)!

For example EN 55013:2001 costs only 42.80 EURO!

Subject: EN Standards

Dear All,

What are appropriate EN standards (BSI BS EN, CENELEC EN, DS DS/EN, etc.) that
I should order? Take EN 55013 as an example. From the IHS web site, the
following information (not a complete list) displays:

BSI BS EN 55013

2001-DEC-03 • Active/Current •
Sound and television broadcast receivers and associated equipment Radio
disturbance characteristics Limits and methods of measurement-AMD 14680:
September 30, 2003;

Hardcopy: $202.00

Electronic: Not Available

CENELEC EN 55013

2001-OCT-01 • Active/Current •
Sound and Television Broadcast Receivers and Associated Equipment - Radio
Disturbance Characteristics - Limits and Methods of Measurement-Including
amendment A1:2003; CISPR 13:2001 + A1:2003, modified

Hardcopy: Call/Quote

Electronic: Not Available

DS DS/EN 55013

2002-FEB-28 • Active/Current •
Sound and television broadcast receivers and associated equipment - Radio
disturbance characteristics - Limits and methods of measurement

Hardcopy: $67.00

Electronic: $67.00

DS DS/EN 55013/A1

2003-MAY-22 • Active/Current •
Sound and television broadcast receivers and associated equipment - Radio
disturbance characteristics - Limits and methods of measurement-(AMENDS DS/EN
55013)

Hardcopy: $41.00

Electronic: $41.00

My questions are:

1. Is there any difference among BSI BS EN, CENELEC EN, DS DS/EN, etc., from
lab accreditator's point of view? I believe the content of the standards are
identical.
2. Should I purchase "CENELEC EN 55013" since CENELEC is an European committee?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,
Grace Lin
