Re: [PSES] Clearance components

2022-10-26 Thread Boštjan Glavič
Hi Amund,

In the term of IEC 62368-1 it would be considered as resistive PIS. You need to
apply fire cone to PIS and check if combustible material is inside fire cone.
If it is inside, special flammability requirements apply.

You have also other options to prove that combustible material is acceptable,
maybe if it is small part (<4g) or it passes fault condition or…

Clause 6.4 is very extensive and gives a lot of options.

Best regards,

Folks,

IEC62368-1 or maybe any standards since it would concern all kind of
electronics …

  * Clearance / spacing from a warm component and to nearby components/parts
that might be combustible, is this categorized as the PIS issues (Potential
Ignition Source) or is it a different category? In this case, it’s a component
that dissipate heat, but I assume for sure that the energy is way below the PIS
15W limit.

Re: [PSES] IEC 62368-1 ES3/PS3 cold impact test temperature

2022-10-26 Thread Chris
 Thanks Don.
Do you know at what temperature is the cold impact test done?

Christopher,

Per Annex Y.6, you have to consider performing the cold impact tests on
polymeric outdoor enclosures housing class 3 energy sources.

Folks,

When do we need to do IEC 62368-1 ES3/PS3 cold impact test as per IEC 62368-1
Third edition.

I was told if EUT is powered by ES3/PS3 then it is required.

any insight will be helpful

Thanks in advance
