RE: surges on 24VAC
The AC Mains test is just that AC Mains. The Definition of AC mains is basically what comes out of the wall. Since the product is 24VAC it falls under low voltage/signal lines. Test is as a signal line. -Original Message- From: Jennifer Banh [mailto:jb...@bb-elec.com] Sent: Monday, December 17, 2001 11:44 AM To: emc-p...@majordomo.ieee.org Subject: surges on 24VAC Hello everyone, I am currently trying to test a product of ours that falls under 50082-1 generic standard for light industrial equipment. Our problem is that we have a 24VAC power input port. The generic standard calls out for EN 61000-4-5 on AC power input ports. After looking at EN 61000-4-5 it seems that it is intended for AC mains voltages, but I couldn't find anything that says a 24VAC input is exempt from this test. I am looking for outside opinions on whether this test is truly applicable. Thanks, Jennifer Banh BTW, we already tried just testing to the spec, and failed. Any suggestions on how to protect against this test would also be appreciated. --- This message is from the IEEE EMC Society Product Safety Technical Committee emc-pstc discussion list. Hello Group, This question is in regards to a CE Marked assembly. The Completed end unit is CE Compliant and Marked. The end unit is disassembled and shipped in 2 shipping containers into the EU. What are the CE Marking requirements for the two shipping containers? Do we place a CE mark on both? We have only tested the unit as a whole and testing the parts separately is not typical installation or use. Robert L. Chamber Acceptability Questions
Hello to all in the group, I have been inundated with questions from the executive staff from my company and would like to field these questions with the listserv group: 1. There has been talk about CISPR accepting 3-meter Semi anechoic full-size chambers for CE Compliance. If this is true when can we expect this to be published in the CISPR documents? 2. Can a 3-meter compact semi-anechoic chamber be used for FCC compliance/verification testing? 3. The is supposedly a draft standard for the Free-Space Chambers. Will these chambers be accepted for FCC/CE? How far along is the draft standard from being published? 4. Is the free-space chamber data accepted by the FCC? 5. Are there any companies using a Free-space chamber for compliance? 6. What certifications will be required for a manufacturer to test/certify using a in-house facility? Robert L.
