Telephone Consumer Protection Act

1998-07-15 Thread sgour

The telephone Consumer Act of 1991 has a requirement
for fax Branding.
In order to educate the customer we put a statement in
our user manual that the time, date and sender ID is
required on each transmitted page.

My question is for Europe, does a similar law exist there?
Any comments are appreciated.

A second question not relating to this Act is on the new
FCC part 68 type B surge. I would like to share some
design ideas on how to pass this test. My problem was
that the 2 ferrite beads (200mA) on T&R and Fuse (250mA)
would open on application of this surge. I have fixed this by using 1A ferrite
beads
and a 1.5A time delay fuse. The MOV is after the ferrites
and fuse, I have considered moving right at the demarcation
point, any comments on that!!
I also have to repeat the UL1950 Clause 6 test as I do not
have V0 rated enclosure around my telco circuit, I expect that
to pass.

FCC Part 68 new Surge requirements

1997-08-26 Thread SGour
  Hello group

Is anyone aware when the new part FCC pt 68 (68.302)surge (9x720us) requirements
actually coming into effect.
Has anybody bought the equipment--any recommendations.

Is this requirement similar to a EU Surge requirement? Can one tester cover
both??

Thanks in advance for the suggestions/comments.

Re: Safety / Notebooks

This comment is based on Rich Nute's response, that in USA
Class 2 Limited Powered devices need not carry a third party
certification. Since the scope of UL 1950 is also the
same as IEC 950, where is this exemption for US actually
coming from?
