4- 20mA Loop powered products

2003-10-02 Thread charles.mar...@ps.ge.com

Hi Group

Looking for some input, we have a product that is 4 -20 mA (12- 28VDC) loop
powered. In terms of powerline testing (4-4 & 4-5) how would this product be
tested, as an DC power supply port or as a I/O port.

Thank You in advance

Who sign the DoC?

2003-08-07 Thread charles.mar...@ps.ge.com

Hi Group,

I have a question without a clear answer. If a manufacturer is outside the
EU, who is required to sign the DoC?
Does that person have to be in the EU?

Thank you in advance,

RE: Surge testing

2003-07-31 Thread charles.mar...@ps.ge.com
Ian,

As, I understand it, depending on which Annex Table you are using (A, B or C),
Annex A only requires testing of I/O cables, line to ground(note 2) and (note
3) if that cable falls into the category of a long distant cables(see 3.6,
-cables over 30 M or which leaves the building). Annex B, not required and
Annex C, N/A. There is no distinction between shielded or unshielded cables
except for the testing method in 61000-4-5.

Dear All

We are carrying out EMC testing to Controlling standard EN61326, which calls
up basic standard EN61000-4-5 for surge testing.
We have carried out the direct injection of mains ports, and unscreened cables
and that is understood. What l am getting confused with is the need to test
screened cables.

I far as l understand there is no need to test the screen, but does this mean
l don't have to carrying out surge testing on screened cables.

Thanks for your help inadvance.

EN61326 and deviations

2003-04-08 Thread charles.mar...@ps.ge.com

Hi all,

I have a question, in EN 61326, Table 2, Evaluation of immunity test
results, in the NOTE it states"

That it is recommended that you use criteria A, but that "criteria B may be
accepted provided that both specification and the test report highlight such
deviation(s) for the relevant combinations(s) of function and test"

Does this mean I can Pass, for example, a product that meets criteria B for
4-3, Rad Im. at let's say 5.5 V/m just in a few frequencies only.

How much "highlighting" would I have to do in the Test Report and for the
product spec, what level of details? Would this include the DoC?

Could I say we meet "Criteria A, but in a few frequencies we meet criteria
B, call for more details."

Thank You in advance for all your comments

Charlie Martin

RE: RADIATED IMMUNITY - Some Actual Measurements of FS

2003-03-04 Thread charles.mar...@ps.ge.com

But, does EN 61326 give a reduction from 10 to 3V/m at certain frequencies.
I do not think so, for an industrial location, Annnex A, Table A.1, IEC
61000-4-3 is 10V/m.

It's extremely useful confirmation of the basis for the '3 V/m' reduced
test level, for which I bear a small part of the responsibility.

Dear Group,

The OJ for the LVD (page C317/73) gives 1.1.2004 as being the date beyond
which IEC 61010-1:1990/A2:1995 can no longer be used to presume
conformance with the requirements of this Directive. After this date, can
equipment previously assessed to this standard still be marketed without
reassessment to the new standard (IEC 61010-1:2001)? If so, until when?

Between 1.4.2001 (the 'dow' of IEC 61010-1:1990+A1:1992 (Modified)) and
1.1.2004 (the dow of IEC 61010-1:1990/A2:1995), can either IEC
61010-1:1990/A2:1995 or IEC 61010-1:2001 be used to presume conformance
 with the requirements of LVD?

Apologies if the answers to the above have been covered before and are
thus locked up in the group's archives.

If the camera is in a can, mesh or otherwise, and the can is bonded to the
skin of the chamber, then is doesn't matter whether the control and power
are copper or fiber. In effect, the cables are outside of the chamber.
Special filters and connectors are not needed.

Our dome is mounted in the corner of the chamber, behind the antenna. We
have a clear view of the front of the EUT, and the orientation of the
antenna if we desire with the help of the pan/tilt/zoom capability of our
camera controller.

RE: Video Cameras for EMC Test Monitoring

Hi Sandi,

We use a regular Panasonic VHS-C palmcorder @ 10V/m and have no problems with
it, besides some noise at certain frequencies mostly with AM. The auto focus
screws up on occasion, but with 20X optical zoom the picture is great and does
the job for ~$300.00.
