RE: FCC Gives TV Makers Deadline
If you but had fiber going to your house it would be done already. We have gig over fiber that delivers HDTV to your set top box quite nicely with grunches of bandwidth to spare, so you can do other fun things at the same time. So skip the sluggish cable which already is at end of life with the replacement known for something that doesn't have a replacement waiting in the wings. I suppose one could still argue Ethernet versus EPON or something, but copper is limited - good for the moment but not for the near future. Okay sounded like a sales guy for a second I'll wash my mouth with soap. Re: FCC Gives TV Makers Deadline
My understanding is that the push to get DTV tuners is that the federal government has auctioned off the analog broadcast frequencies, or intends to, and already factored the revenue from that sale into their budget. The push has nothing to do with technology development or better service, but balancing some precarious bookkeeping.
