On the whole, of course safety is involved; but that is not the question at hand. What I am trying to get at is that a particular requirement/test may not be safety related in a particular application. That occurs from time to time in ITE testing, so is there any reason why the same investigative rationale cannot be applied to the components used in ITE, such as lasers/LEDs, where the standards for those components have a normative reference in the ITE standard?
