Re: [PSES] Near Field probes
Didn’t respond because I thought someone else would be quoting chapter and verse. The probe set you can buy from ETS/Lindgren or Electro-Metrics are calibrated in a TEM cell. That is pretty straightforward, but I don’t know what specs they call out. The probes themselves and the included calibration factors antedate all these EU Directives and IEC 61000 series standards. Personally, I doubt there's an official cal procedure for these. HP calibrated their doorstop probes. Mark Therrien (hope I've spelled his name correctly) was the designer of these probes, but I don't believe he's with HP or Agilent any more. You may be able to do some Google searches for his name and get more specific info on the probe design and/or calibration procedure. Re: E H Near Field Probes
When I was the VP of Certelecom Laboratories I specified and purchased the Com-Power probes and pre-amp. I did quite an extensive search and a lot of phone calling before settling on this make. They certainly were very useful. We also had Electro-Metrics probes but tended to use the Com-Power ones quite a lot. Regards G. E H Near Field Probes
Hi Richard Schaffner-EMC has both RF far-field E H isotropic probes and near field E H probe sets. Their EMC-20, used typically for immunity E-field measurements in V/M or W/M squared, measures from 100kHz to 3GHz, with 0.01V/M resolution and can be used stand-alone or via fiber optic. They also make a near field probe set for localizing emissions, if that's your need! Contact Schaffner at Irvine, CA at 800-880-0048 Or visit their Web at www.schaffner.com Wandel Goltermann also make a large range of Electromagnetic Field measuring probes and I believe Chase Systems markets them in USA at 973-252-660 or www.chasesystems.com Tony O'Hara - This message is coming from the emc-pstc discussion list.
