Re: [PSES] [Commercial] [PSES] Labeling - battery operated products

2017-09-08 Thread Scott Douglas
Not every product with lithium batteries requires these labels. Some
battery types are exempt. For example, a product with one or two CR2032
type button cells would be exempt regardless whether the batteries are
installed in the product or packed (properly) separately in the product
package. It all depends on the battery type, size, content, and quantity.

Some airlines are refusing any product with a lithium battery,
regardless if exempt or not.  So best is talk with your shipping carrier
and have them guide you. Tell them what you need to ship, how many, how
packed, what method (air, ground, water). They can be very helpful.

And yes, these labels are aimed directly at the carriers, mostly air,
but also ground so on the transportation packaging  as mentioned in
another post.

At least for CE marking purposes, there are no requirements for any

Should a product (with batteries incorporated) have such battery

shipment packages?

Any IATA specialists here?

Sorry Amund,

I sent my email response a bit early. You asked specifically about the product
label. The answer is no. However, using the ISO 7000-0434B (exclamation point
in a triangle) symbol on your product label with reference about the use of li
on batteries in your product may be advantageous.
