John,

Thanks for your detail explanation. If the substances of RoHS and REACH can
be exchanged, why we need two requirements.

Regards,

Scott

RoHS is strictly about the substances which the manufacturer must limit in

various chemicals controls directives have a far wider application and
relate to many chemical products (including those in RoHS) and how they must
controlled in introduction to the market, handling, packaging, labelling and
 instructions (etc.)

Also, of course, the RoHS requirements apply only to the substances as
used in electrical/electronic products within the scope of the Directive -
whereas the same substances are widely used for vast numbers of other types
 of products.

Looking at this annex, there are some substances such as lead, mercury,
cadmium, chromium IV etc. They are already prohibited to be used in RoHS
directive. Why are they included in a chemical control regulation?

Re: [PSES] Restricted substances in annex XVII of REACH

2012-10-09 Thread ce-test, qualified testing bv - Gert Gremmen
REACH is about knowing what substances are in your premises,
How much , and control how they stored. (and packed and labeled)
In certain cases notification is required.

REACH is not only for materials incorporated into the end product
but also for those used to in the process.
(for example flammables used to heat a product)
In fact its applicable for any hazardous substance under the control
of the
Company.

There are 2 directives due to different introduction dates,
and I suppose for legal reasons too.
