Re: [Emc-users] change axes directions
Just add a "-" before the INPUT SCALE value of the axes you need (should be Axis_1 for Y and Axis_2 for Z) in your .ini configuration file (for example...if it is 100, change it to -100). The CD-burner can just about always read what it wrote, but other computers sometimes can't. Did you use a CD-RW or a CD-R? Sometimes the CD-R is more easily readable on ordinary drives than a CD-RW. It may be that your CD reader may need cleaning. One possibility is to pull the CD-RW drive out of the system you did the burning on, and temporarily put it into the machine you are trying to put EMC onto. I know that is a pain! I have a number of flaky CD readers here, too. Sometimes I can bring them back to life by opening them up and cleaning the optics, but it is pretty intricate, and not for those who have a problem with microscopic screws, etc. Jon - Using Tomcat but need to do more? Okay, after a number of ruined CD's I finally got one that booted. Use it for a drink coaster. The keyword here is the .iso on the end. That file is the complete image of the cd, its filesystem and all, not just another file. It has to be burned to the cd as an image, not as a file. You didn't say what burner software you were running, so the next step is for you to see if it has this 'iso' or 'image' option you can turn on somehow, and failing that, tell this list what software is doing the cd writing for you so that someone who might be using it can help you. Since I'm already running linux, FC6 here TBE, then k3b is the tool, and its option 'burn cd image' is the proper subtool, just click on that item in the upper toolbar, follow the prompts, find the iso where you stored it, wait for it to do an md5sum on it, and click the 'burn' button. >Alex Joni wrote: >>The Live CD is as the name says a CD that is able to run without >> changes to your system. >>If you do want to install to HDD, then you either have a choice of >>overwriting an existing linux install, use an empty partition, or >> overwrite a full disk (if you have windows on it, you probably want to >> make some room first, and leave the space unpartitioned). >> >>best regards, >>Alex Joni >> >>- Original Message - >>From: "Jack Ensor" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >>To: "Alex Joni" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "Enhanced Machine Controller >> (EMC)" >>Sent: Thursday, February 01, 2007 3:54 PM >>Subject: Re: [Emc-users] EMC2.1 Live CD >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >>--- >>-- Using Tomcat but need to do more? Re: [Emc-users] System Noise
Richard, I haven't archived all of the messages, so I apologize if some of the questions I ask have already been answered. 1 -- How do you know that you have noise? What are the specific symptoms? 2 -- Do you get the symptoms with and without the spindle running? 3 -- Somewhere I think it was mentioned that you are using differential encoders. You are using the proper differential receivers, aren't you? Have you checked the cable to make sure that all of the pins are making contact? If the symptoms are that you are dropping or getting extra encoder counts, does that occur when you rotate the encoder by hand (without the servo being driven). Just some thoughts. Not every "noise" problem is caused by grounding. I have a Rutex 2200 drive, coupled to the Rutex motherboard. The encoder wires are twisted pair, with shielding grounded at the drive; the power wires are also shielded and run to the motor in a separate conduit. Somewhere I am getting noise in this system. I have Rutex 9x drives on my other machine and they run great, Rutex says that the new drives are more susceptible to noise. How does that work your new product is inferior to the one it replaces? OK, so will the older drives (Rutex ) work on this machine? Is there anything ( rutex or other drives )that work on this machine? I know that substitution is often not the best way to fix problems but when everything else fails one can get pretty desperate and frustrated. Mazak takes the approach that all leads are shielded and the cables all run thru a common area where about 2" of the insulation is stripped off and the shields bonded (clamped) to a common strip. This goes for encoder cables, servo power cables, etc. I have tried shortening wires, adding grounds, checking grounds, even asked the double E's at school. Any ideas on how to reduce the noise, looking for any ideas at this point no matter how crazy. If I have to stand on one foot while operating my mill so be it. >A forum in italian already exist and is hosted by cncitalia.net at address >http://www.cncitalia.net/forum/ CNC-Italia is not a forum about EMC2. I'm a proud member of that forum and there is only one section about EMC2. I think EMC2 is a very large, advanced software, with a lot of capabilities. It is highly customizable to adapt it to virtually every kind of machine. There are parts of the program almost never explored as controlling non non-cartesian motion systems like hexapods and other... Also EMC2 is an open architecture software and can be modified, but this requests advanced programming skills. I don't think all these topics can be covered by a single section of a forum about general CNC. The project I was thinking about is a forum ONLY about EMC2. >I think a ML is more useful but I am also interested to the forum. > >Thanks >Dino Mailing list is a powerful instrument, but I think that a forum is fairly more useful. First I think a forum is more readable, is subdivided in sections and in every section discussions are divided in threads. There is a powerful search function that allows you to find quickly the things you need. Also a forum can contain a lot of material, all past topics are accessible (I think better and in a more readable way than the mailing list archive and #emc discussion archive...), forum can contain HowTo's guides, videoclips, images...all in a single site. Last, with a forum you don't receive every day a lot of mails in your email. If there was an english forum about EMC2 surely I would be addict to it...
