Thank you John for your quick response. Indeed I'm talking with Donald too
and it seems really nice and responsive.

About your spindle whining a little bit. Could this be solved offsetting
the 0 speed reference until it really hits 0 volts? I remember I did this
with the yaskawa VFD to really "align" the 0 volts reference with 0 hz or
motion stopped on the VFD.

I think I'm going to order one kit as soon as possible to test it and use
it as a spindle for a live tool on the lathe (with a proper planetary
reducer). But, from your experience I guess it's a sure bet to give them a
try.

Re: [Emc-users] OT: Question about Bergerda servo motors and drives

2020-06-22 Thread John Dammeyer
I think I paid with credit card. My initial contact was through Alibaba.
Later I've had many discussions with Donald Chen. His English is good enough
to get by although he might be using Google Translate. He can ask the
engineers or pass on questions to them.

I've used the 400W model in step/dir mode. The spindle 1.8kW is currently used
in 0-10V with direction input. One I finish a few things I'll switch it over
to the second port of the MESA 7i92H and change it to step/dir mode too.I
find when the spindle stops with 0-10V mode that it sometimes whines a bit. If
I twist on the spindle I can make it stop. I think it's just at some
indefinite position based on when the voltage input went below the motion
cut-off.

I had similar noise from the STMBL drive on DC Servos but never with the STMBL
on the AC servo. And I don't recall the 400W AC servo making that noise.

Also, I think when the spindle has stopped I may want to add a time delay and a
specific Spindle Motor Enable so that when it's stopped it's also not being
held in position. Not really needed in 0-10V mode. That might even be a
parameter. I should check.

The motor encoder output can be divided down. The step/dir can also be scaled
from the 2500 lines to whatever you want. I ran as if it were a 250 line
encoder (1000PPR) to match the US Digital (and later CUI) encoder. The CUI was
programmed with the AMT ViewPoint software to also produce 250 lines on the DC
servo.

[Emc-users] OT: Question about Bergerda servo motors and drives

2020-06-22 Thread Leonardo Marsaglia
Hello guys,

I'm planning to buy some servo motors for a router I'm slowly building and
I remember a few months ago John Dammeyer told me about these Bergerda
servo motors and how good they are.

I would like to know a little bit more about anyone having experience with
these servos. I motsly interested in the E series since they have a 17 bits
absolute encoder and I assume they can be scaled to whatever value you
want. I plan to use them in position mode with pulse + dir steps.

Also, they told me the best way to place the payment is via Western Union,
and I wanted to know how the purchase went for John or any other in the
list. Just to have a little bit more of confidence before trying to place
an order.

As always thank you for your time and help!

Leonardo
