The "Updating LinuxCNC" page I linked you to has the content you're
looking for, that's where we put all the upgrade/migration information.

I agree it can be harder than it should be to find the parts of the docs
you need. I'm not sure how to lay things out to make it easier.
(Google does a good job of finding our upgrade docs in this case.)

Perhaps there needs to be an easy to find migration page. Here is what it
was..

(Hardware = 5i25 and 7i76)

loadrt probe_parport isn't necessary, and won't load anyway, for whatever
reason

watchdog petting isn't needed anymore per google search.

Also, it is found in ~/linuxcnc, which isn't created until you select one
from the list.

The real reason for the livecd update was, I sold my router to someone
else, and didn't want my individualized dev setup, wanted a fresh install.

I don't understand this question.

You can select one of the sample configs when you run LinuxCNC from the
desktop menu.

The sample configs are installed in
/usr/share/doc/linuxcnc/examples/sample-configs/ if you want to look
around "by hand".

> http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Configuring_LinuxCNC is outdated.

You're right, that page is way out of date. I think we should just
remove it. I think the info in the real docs are better:
http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/

Does anyone want to try to salvage any of that wiki page before i remove it?

> Also, any other issues I may face migrating from 2.6 ?

Yes, upgrading from LinuxCNC 2.6 (any version) to 2.7 (any version) may
require configuration changes (depending on what's in your 2.6.x
config). Full details here:

http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/getting-started/updating-linuxcnc.html#_updating_configuration_files

That might have been a complete reformat and reinstall, if you used the LiveCD.

Unless you kept a copy of your configs somewhere, that might have been
a mistake.

There is no need to use a LiveCD to do a LinuxCNC upgrade.

That may be, but the configs haven't moved on my watch, still
~/linuxcnc/configs.
