Re: [Enigmail] Cross-compiling on Linux for Windows [was: Compiling Enigmail: makemake - what???]

The problem is most likely that install.rdf file is not adapted
properly. You'll have to unzip enigmail.xpi, edit install.rdf and
remove the following line:

...
and then

zip -r enigmail-1.6-win32-x86-msvc.xpi *

Thanks, great. I confirm, that these steps result in a working version now.

Additional question:

This em:targetPlatform tag and value:
can it be avoided during the build by a certain ./configure or make
parameter -- how? --

Then I suggest you modify the configure and make so that for ./configure
--host=i686-pc-mingw32

the em:targetPlatform tag is avoided.

Otherwise, one has to use steps of unzip, sed, zip sequence,

but I hope you find a programmatic solution with configure and make as
suggested.

Re: [Enigmail] Jan 28th Data Protection Day?

2014-01-29 Thread Robert J. Hansen

caerllewys.net - babylon site. your email host.

That would be very interesting. I've just visited it myself and saw
no activity such as what you've reported. The page source appears to
be intact and unchanged since the last time I took a look at it a few
weeks ago.

(Note: I am not involved in the running of caerllewys.net; I've just
visited the site a few times.)

I would be very interested in hearing if you can recreate the
behavior. But for now, I think you're attributing causation
prematurely. While it's possible that something caused a DOS window
to open and code to execute, it does not appear to be caerllewys.net.

If you had *anything* execute on your machine as a result of visiting
www.caerllewys.net, I would like to know exactly what URLs you looked
at and what was executed. There is no DOS executable content anywhere
on the site that I am aware of, and it would be difficult (though I
concede not impossible) for such to be hidden from me.

The aim of Data Protection Day, which is marked on 28 January each year,
is to give citizens an opportunity to understand what kind of data about
them is collected and processed, why this is done, and what rights they
have in respect of such processing. It is also an opportunity for them
