just to let you know... deleting "xulstore.json" did fix the problem.

I assume that solution I proposed at the bottom of the thread does not
help ...?

It's not easy to help you as the description of your problem is quite
vague. Here a few questions:

- Do you have any other addons installed apart from Enigmail?
- On what Operating System are you?
- Did sending encrypted mails ever work?
