That’s only if it was installed from addons.thunderbird.net, if I not mistaken?
If it was installed properly, then APT shall take care.

The Add-Ons manager in Thunderbird takes care of upgrading Enigmail if
there is a new version of Enigmail.

The only thing is that you _currently_ have to upgrade Enigmail manually
if you upgrade from Thunderbird 60 to beta versions of Thunderbird 68.

Once TB 68 will be released, the upgrade of Enigmail will be done
automatically. I'm not sure about the upgrading process & speed of the
various Linux distributions.

[Enigmail] Upgrade Enigmail

2019-07-18 Thread Tao-Kann Martin
Hi,

How do I upgrade Enigmail ?

Should I delete it from Thunderbird and then install the new xpi ?

Or simply install it from Ubuntu packages ? Are them up-to-date ?

No, that's not possible. Enigmail can only set the column values after
you decrypted or verified the message.

[Enigmail] Icons appears only after opening message

2019-07-18 Thread Tao-Kann Martin
Hi,

I noticed that in the list of messages in Thunderbird, Enigmail shows icons
only after opening the message.

So after reading several messages, some of them are marked as "signed" and/or
"encrypted" but some are not.

In this case the "Enigmail" column is not very useful, I can't see really if a
message is signed/encrypted or not since I'm not sure if I opened that message
before.

Is it possible to check the messages before open them ?

I use Enigmail 2.0.12 with Thunderbird 68.

I think that Marco is right with his analysis concerning the DOS attack
on SKS keyservers. However upgrading to GnuPG 2.2.17 won't be
sufficient; you also have to clean or delete the affected keys.

The ideal solution is to follow the steps that Lachezar Dobrev proposed:

Alternatively, you can try to just delete the keys that are most likely
affected:

gpg --delete-key patr...@enigmail.net d...@fifthhorseman.net \
r...@sixdemonbag.org kristian.fiskerstr...@sumptuouscapital.com

Hello

Sorry for the double post thats because the problem.
after starting thunderbird no messages will be send until initialisation
of Enigmail and than as a bunch.
If you press the Send Button more than once since nothing happens until
initialization is complete it sends the messages multiple times.

I am using Thnderbird 60.8.0, Enigmail 2.12 under Kubuntu 18.04 LTS (32Bit)

It must be the DOS attack on the keyservers where keys were mass signed.

Try to update to the latest version of Enigmail and GnuPG/Ggp4win.

Hello

Since some time the initializing of Enigmail takes between half an
hour and two hours of time at every start of thunderbird.
Why is that so and how can i make it work normaly again?

Thanks,
