That’s only if it was installed from addons.thunderbird.net, if I not mistaken? 
 If it was installed properly, then APT shall take care.

The Add-Ons manager in Thunderbird takes care of upgrading Enigmail if
there is a new version of Enigmail.

The only thing is that you _currently_ have to upgrade Enigmail manually
if you upgrade from Thunderbird 60 to beta versions of Thunderbird 68.

Once TB 68 will be released, the upgrade of Enigmail will be done
automatically. I'm not sure about the upgrading process & speed of the
various Linux distributions.
