[E-devel] [RFC] Eina need to be renamed

2008-10-21 Thread Cedric BAIL
Hi guys,

We just discover that Eina was already used by a GNOME/GTK
application and library ( http://www.gtkfiles.org/app.php/Eina ). So
we need to do a little rename. The new name should be easy to
remember, typo prone and short. It would be cool if it mean something
like the previous one, but that not really a requirement. Ah, and of
course it should start with a 'e' :-)

So what name do you suggest ?

Seriously, it should NOT start with an 'e'. What does Eina mean, anyway,
besides being a village in Norway?

efl-core?
core-data?

not supported yet, needs to add chunk encoding and like, not

[E-devel] Using Eina_List with eet

2008-10-21 Thread Viktor Kojouharov
This is a bit of a continuation from the previous mail.

I'm trying to use Eina_List with eet. So according to eet_suite.c, I do
the following:

EET_DATA_DESCRIPTOR_ADD_LIST(_ev_config_edd, Edje_Viewer_Config,
recent, recent, _ev_config_edd)

I didn't know what to put as a subtype, so I put the edd, just how
eet_suite does it.

However, when I invoke eet_data_write, the program segfaults, ending in
eina_inline_list.x:55 (eina_list_data_get)

It cannot access an Eina_List pointer, that is passed by
eet_data_put_list.

When I invoke eet_data_write, the recent list can be accessed just
fine.

So can anyone give me a clue as to why this is happening?

[E-devel] Suggestion: Resolution Independence to e-toolkits?

2008-10-21 Thread Leandro Santiago
Hello enlightenment team, I hit a doubt and I would ask the developers
if the idea would be feasible or even useful.
There is a time I read about the implementation of resolution for
independence of the fonts on GTK +. I found it very interesting, so I
thought if this would be useful in the enlightenment or in ETK or EWL.
Reason? By testing program of the EWL (ewl_test), I saw that the
calendar widget (cal), to be scaled, is not the font of the characters
of the day changed, which gives him something awful. It would be very
interesting if the size of the characters follow the proportion of the
size of the window.

A hug from a grateful user of enlightenment.

obs: I am sorry for my bad English. It is the fault of the google
translate.

Aliás, alguém conhece uma boa lista de discussão ou canal de discussão
sobre o enlightenment para usuários brasileiros?

efl already is scalable - e17 can (and will do it) you have scale settings -
unlike gtk - you have fine-grained scaling control. the theme determines what
elements are to scale - it doesnt scale everything uniformly. it's a selective
scaling, so pixel-perfect designs stay just that - pixel perfect, if the
designer wants. the user gets to set how to configure scaling, from setting a
scaling factor explicitly, or askign scaling to go by dpi (with the Design
dpi set too indicating the ui was designed at X DPI, so adjust to whatever
dpi i have now.

we are beyond gtk in this regard. :) ewl just doesn't make use of the feature.
elementary does. e17 does.
