If you mean it to contain e17 C modules then you could have issues with that. However, it doesn't have to mean that... One can do a lot with just packaging a desktop config of existing gadgets/modules, plus wallpapers, plus gadget themes, etc... and it would define a good notion of such a thing. If it needs to depend on specific C modules that are not part of some distribution say, then those would have to be downloaded separately. However, one can imagine e17 jscripted modules that could do a lot of the basic kinds of functionality, much as edje, and that could be part of the shell-theme bundle. The overwhelming majority of people's shell customizations does not involve writing new C modules... just selecting, theming, and positioning existing ones. And again, any requirements on having some particular C module around would be just that - go and get module blingo over at this link here as the cool-blingo shell-theme uses that. > so right now all of this is possible, but in 2 parts. make a module, then a > profile to configure it. :) i know i don't have the time to do ui experiments > myself. i'd rather not have some grand unified module here either but just > specific features you can turn on and off provided by a range of modules, not > a > single one. so you can take and configure just one of the elements you like > not > not have to take the rest. :) > Yes, you can do that (make e17 C modules and make profiles using those, etc). But this is more something that distros or other organizations would do... not for skinners/themers or just users who like to do their own desktop customizations. As above, this latter is more like selecting some set of existing gadgets/modules, some config for placing them here and there, some themes for the gadgets, maybe some matching wallpaper, cursor, ... those kinds of things (I would tend to not include normal e17 themes as part of that since those already have their own system, and you can just say that the shell-skin cool-blingo looks best if used with the default e17 theme). You know Cedric wants to do this kind of thing via the exchange site, and it's just a matter of formalizing what to include/exclude, writing a managing module for it, etc.. much as is the case with the current themes/wallpaper/splash subsystems. Re: [E-devel] different shelves for different virtual desktops
well this is why i was "thinking of @the_way_this_can_be done and html5 is just a good example than you can find anywhere how's it works well it's good that this can be done already really and really there's no need of so much functions that potentially could lead to exploits, so taking only most useful parts out of the webkit would be probably more effective, so - no need to use of java and only few functions are really needed to be used - read xml, set change timer, set appearance effect - and there you go with your homeworld picture gallery parser, but there can be just an extra background for all that and support of displaying few images at once aka being as custom icons to set there moving pictures. So actually all that needs to be done in this particular case is just adding few functions for background and icons to add more than one picture and set the time of changing this picture to another and also to disable those effects in non-3d-mode and while those icons are in the background - invisible. but it's nice having a discussion ',) webkit? it's nice to have such opportunity already. it's just much simplier for many web-designers to develop using standard technics, well maybe the cutted-version with a not so much memory leaks will be included in. thanks. Actually I just remembered. Lua has even less usage, and I'm pretty much the only one. It's mandatory. On the other hand, it's commonly in Linux distros, so no big deal. Plus, Raster wanted it in, so in it went. Eventually I'll add ePhysics bindings to Lua. Muahahaha Er I mean ePhysics Lua bindings will be as optional as it is in the rest of EFL at the time. That one can already be disabled by some configure flags, so I am happy with situation. It does encourage people to try and get bullet. That is useful as it is part of Edje and means we can have theme and wallpaper using physics effect. Nobody did try it yet, but some physics enabled wallpaper for e17 could be fun I think. Re: [E-devel] [Elementary][1.7.x] Genlist item_content_get_hook bug ?
Hello, thanks for the patch but this looks wrong. Genlist item has two types of elements: 1. Text "Text" is a text data that can be set to TEXT or TEXTBLOCK part of genlist item. The text is retrieved by text_get callback and set in _item_text_realize() function. 2. Content "Content" is an object that ca be swallowed into SWALLOW part of genlist item. The object is retrieved by content_get callback and swallowed in _item_content_realize() function. So, _item_content_get_hook() is used to get the swallowed object to the SWALLOW part. So edje_object_part_swallow_get() is correct. Thanks. It might even be the case that if yours became very > popular, then the e17 devs might decide to choose that as (one of) > some set of 'official' default shells. indeed that is a good point. the problem is - your "shell" thing wont do it. :) what errr... "al" (lets use that as a short name as i can only make out anything sensible from the email address... i'll have to call you "squiggles" otherwise :) - no - i dont read arabic :)) seems to want is doable via extensions (modules) to implement all the specific behaviour he wants. specific modules already implement similar kinds of behaviour - engage, comp-scale etc. what he wants is a unified thing i guess that does it all. great - go make it. :) the problem is you're trying to go the next level... which is "what id there are 50 designers all with awesome ideas - how do they package them up and give them to people". that's your shell thing. and as such all of these are in fact large blobs of logic (code) and so are not readily portable and shippable. the best that can be done is offer a module and then alongside a profile that enables it and configures it. the module cant sensibly ship with the profile because it is not "just data". :) so right now all of this is possible, but in 2 parts. make a module, then a profile to configure it. :) i know i don't have the time to do ui experiments myself. i'd rather not have some grand unified module here either but just specific features you can turn on and off provided by a range of modules, not a single one. so you can take and configure just one of the elements you like not not have to take the rest. :) -- - Codito, ergo sum - "I code, therefore I am" -- The Rasterman (Carsten Haitzler)ras...@rasterman.com -- The Go Parallel Website, sponsored by Intel - in partnership with Geeknet, is your hub for all things parallel software development, from weekly thought leadership blogs to news, videos, case studies, tutorials, tech docs, whitepapers, evaluation guides, and opinion stories. Well i was thinking about using gifs recently but i was thinking in the way of html5 and decided that i can produce a better image (because i got more controls in for example jquery) by providing some special workaround for images. so i've created an animated table full of and just told the script to act as it can - so actually i can even set the particular place and orientation of each image and this works and the resolution of images is good and this is what would be interesting to do with icons and backgrounds. well maybe you wont just use those gifs or videos but this can be an html background? For packaging, ephysics can be disabled - but efl users will loose physics features both by not provided EPhysics API and edje support, if distros have problems packaging efl with physics support they should keep bullet packages in a better shape - and we efl developers should impose that, otherwise we'll never have our libraries in use due a distro packaging situation. Forcing EPhysics to be disabled by distros will put the library in the limbo for ever, distro packages users are a very good audience and we must desire that. In cases where the user wants to install it from source code there's enough information to guide the entire process - if it's not true *we* should provide better informations. Since we're good guys our README also guide users on how to build bullet from source code. :) Regards > > > > > Have fun, > > -- > > Cedric BAIL > > > > > > -- > > The Go Parallel Website, sponsored by Intel - in partnership with Geeknet, > > is your hub for all things parallel software development, from weekly > > thought > > leadership blogs to news, videos, case studies, tutorials, tech docs, > > whitepapers, evaluation guides, and opinion stories. [E-devel] Build issue
Hello, Our current build system is currently in a bad state and there was no improvements in the past week. So here is I think a TODO that everyone will agree with. - siginfo is not a portable API. There was a test and proper #if in 1.7, we should bring them back. - libmount is not recent enough for eeze 1.8 on debian. There was working code in 1.7, we should bring it back. - binary executed inside the build tree don't use the just build library, but the system one. - the profile (UI, server) are not there yet and should be added as latest discussion did reach consensus on that topic. I may have forgotten some issue here, so kindly remind them here. At least for the four top one, they will be blocker for the 1.8 release and need to be solved. I may go and fix the one I can when I have time, but any help will be appreciated. You can feel free to make fun of us to, while we have a serious discussion. That second one from me that you quoted above is serious discussion. I wanted to know about this rosa linux you mentioned, since you mentioned it a couple of times, to refer to it, but I have never heard of it. Tables don't work when you need sections to break apart, if an entire site is based on a tabled layout it simply won't work on a mobile device as it'll keep the original layout when the layout needs to change. There's far too many things you have to do to tables to get things to look correct like adding more tables within tables and divs within tds to fix padding and alignment issues. > > Reminds me of the people that said "Goto is bad and should never, ever > and not even then be used.".
