Re: [E-devel] Problem in 0.16.6-pre8

2003-10-25 Thread Onur Kucuk

KW The attached patch should revert the click-to-focus behavior to the
KW pre7 one. I also think it re-introduces a potential (but unlikely)
KW segfault. Please let me know if the patch brings back the desired
KW click-to-focus behavior.

The patch seems to be working, bringing the focus behaviour back to what I am used to.

KW I cannot reproduce losing the keyboard (Alt-Tab always works fine
KW for me). Can you provide exact steps to reproduce this?

 rm -rf $HOME/.enlightenment
 startx

open up the focus settings dialog, and choose focus follows mouse settings and all
new windows first get the focus

 ctrl+alt+insert to bring up Eterm

execute an application (gqview 1.3.2 for example) by typing its name inside Eterm

ctrl + alt + x to close gqview

and the keyboard is gone. Alt-tab or alt-shift-cursor keys does not work. Using
mouse brings things back to normal.

Tried with different kind of programs and it looks like this happens on gnome
programs and (gnome free) gtk programs. Running xterm does not bring this up for
example.

KW What is the enlightenment process state at this point?

Enlightenment seems to be working fine. I have fx ripples working normally at this
state, it does not stop.

I am currently using pre8 with your patch, will try to hit any trouble about this, if
there is more.

[E-devel] Problem in 0.16.6-pre8

2003-10-15 Thread Onur Kucuk

 Hello,

I have just switched from pre7 to pre8 and am having a problem.

When I have the Focus Follows Mouse Click set, for example I start an Eterm window
and execute gqview inside it, gqview pops up. While gqview has the focus, I close it
and the focus does not return back to Eterm. At this point the keyboard becomes
useless, things like pressing alt-tab (to change to an open window) or
alt-shift-cursor_key (to move around the virtual screen) does nothing.

Either starting a clean E or using my old config files, this happens. Is it me
missing a new config, or is it a bug ?

If you mouse-click on a window (the Eterm, or anyplace else), does the keyboard
start working again? It *sounds* like -pre8 isn't DTRT if *nobody* has focus at
the moment (perhaps it should have grabbed the focus itself when the gqview window
evaporates, or something?)

When the situation above happens, clicking mouse button on desktop and popping up the
menu, then repressing and making the menu go away, does not change anything. Only when
I press a window (either the Eterm window or any one else) all get back to normal.

Just the important thing is, I don't want to be mouse addict :)

Of course it would be better to have the focus back to the last focused window.

mailing archive for this list ...
