Re: [E-devel] easy_e17.sh

2013-03-29 Thread Brian Miculcy
Hey man,

thanks for your interest in easy_e17.sh . I'm currently adding the GIT support
into the script. Also it will be renamed to easy_efl.sh, so development version
is available under a different URL.
Current version compiles enlightenment and libs. You might stumble over bugs
but development continues, so you should check more often for updates. :)

More information: http://omicron.homeip.net/?blog_id=78
Download development version: http://omicron.homeip.net/svn/easy_efl/easy_efl.sh

Kind regards,
Brian 'morlenxus' Miculcy

My build script support GIT, SVN and Packages sources (from e repository or
also external sources), it can download/update/compile/install all the
mixture you like in one shot. You can also map the repository structure as
you like on your filesystem.

I updated it recently (maybe the wiki page is a little updated):

hope you will like it

Have a look through the various dev directories in SVN and git.
There's a variety of build scripts. Some might support git. I know
mine does, but it's really specific to my needs. Some of the others
might also be really specific to the needs of those that wrote them.
Some might actually suit you to, or at least be easy enough to change to
your liking.

On the other hand, I expect easy_e17.sh will get modified soon enough
to support git.

There is one FIXME in the script which I haven't figured out yet. The whole

exiting on error. So you could just run it and then fix the missing

The easiest way would be:
1. write a clean and working patch, that allows what you want to do
2. send the patch to morlenxus
3. hope that morlenxus integrates it :)

My own little script (written from scratch by me) allows for such
operation.. This is how it works in coarse terms:

cvs up > log
resolve_deps
for each in updated do tar, build, install, upload

the resolve_deps function takes the list of modified packages in CVS and
returns a string of things to rebuild, in the proper order, all
controlled by a very simple dependency map in the format pkg:dep, dep, dep

I even wrote some scripts to create the dependency map from the finished
rpm packages, complete with support for creating graphic maps in dot-format.

if the build process fails in any package, the script aborts, and once I
have resolved the issue, I simply set OVERRIDE_FINAL to the remaining
list of packages and run the script again..

It should not be a big operation to set the OVERRIDE_FINAL variable from
within the script..

I have shared my script in the past, and if anyone are interested, I
have no calms about doing so again.

Oh, and I wrote a similar script for e_modules, which didn't need deps
among the packages.

Morten

Or else the developer might remove entrance_edit_gui from the script, because
it is pretty much broken. It uses a year old API definiton, while these stuff
are changing day-by-day (or at least they used to). It never actually worked,
btw, so there's no point including it in the script.

Or else, you might wanna discover the magic "-e" arg :
#easy_e17.sh -i -e --clean --clean

is my "default" way to build e.

if things go wrong (like not rebuilding things you wanted),
# rm -r /tmp/easy_e17/ helps

You can also use the --skip option

easy_e17.sh --skip=entrance_edit_gui,other,broken,programs

I can't recall what those other broken ones are at the moment, the
exact list changes frequently. Lots of API changes to ETK and EWL
recently, people can't keep up.

Or the --skip-errors option if you are feeling brave.

"Recommended" is one of those words... The core E team does not
"recommend" any particular update/build/package script, so in that
sense, the recommended way is to do it by hand.

Others may very well recommend it, however, and I know a lot of people
use it. I've never used it personally, so I can't say, but a lot of
folks do use it, FWIW.

If so, how can I make it work? :-)

"too many arguments to function" sounds like a pretty basic problem, but
it hasn't been fixed over the last few days.

So does really noone else get this error? Do you use other library

The problem is that among all the things compiled by easy_e17, some
packages are currently broken.

To skip them, you can try to do :

touch /tmp/easy_e17/entrance_edit_gui.noerror

Then run easy_e17.sh again, and entrance_edit_gui will be skipped. You
will need to do this for 5-6 packages approx.
