E-Sense = E-Sense is a Windows NT port of (an old version of) Enlightenment,
the window manager for the X Windowing System on Unix machines. Coded by Francis
Gastellu (LoneRunnr, who also was the original coder of LiteStep),
and Christophe Thibault (r0n, author of the K-jöfol
MP3/VQF player), E-Sense is currently in its second public beta. - E-Sense
homepage at http://floach.pimpin.net/get-esense.shtml (link is borked).

Google around and you can find the source, or if not, I think I have it somewhere.

E17 is a completely new code-base though.

[snip]

Take a look at the enlightenment project page (www.enlightenment.org,
IIRC). It is clearly stated there that E will never be ported to run
on Win32 (at least by raster). I've never heard of anyone making it
work under Win32. Besides, you would need to have an Xserver
installed on your Win* box and by the time you went to all that
trouble, why not just set up another partition on your hard drive and
dual boot into linux or some other free OS that it runs natively on.

E-sense - http://www.kjofol.org/e/, homepage is dysfunctional tho.
Looks like the project is way dead.

Want E? 3 ways.

- hack the windows gui code. Its been done lots (Litestep, evwm,...)
- Use Cygwin's X server & *nix env..
- Get Windowblinds and download an E theme.

But really, just use linux.

[E-devel] E on Win32 - related question

2003-01-29 Thread Tony Peguero
Hi all.
I have a related question. I don't see much point in running the whole of E
on Win32, but I am interested in using Evas as part of a GUI in a cross
platform game that I'm working on. Would it be possible to do that? Is it
practical? What would be required?
Thanks.
