I'm a Dell VAR. Well, my Linux consulting company is a Dell VAR.
Anyway, I can get you a Dell server at my cost, which can be
significant, depending on the configuration. I also always have free
shipping.

There's only one problem: I'm in Canada. I don't know if
shipping/selling to a customer outside of Canada is possible. I would
have to ask my rep if it's allowed.

Should I look into it?

[e-users] DR17: eapps appear on their own

2005-07-10 Thread Kanwar Ranbir Sandhu
Hi all,

First of all, this is my first post to this list. I've been playing
around with Enlightenment on my Fedora Core 3 laptop for a few days now.
I'm really impressed.

It took me a while to get used to some things (I'm a Gnome guy), but I
believe I have the basics figured out. What has me scratching my head
though is Engage, and my list of Favourite apps.

I deleted a bunch of eapps from the engage and favourite folders, and
created a few new ones (Azureus, NX, Win4Lin). I also created a .order
file and saved it under the engage folder. At this point, everything
seemed to be working well.

During my attempts to get Entrance working (which I finally did), I
logged out of Enlightenment. When I logged back in, all the eapps I had
deleted were back. My favourites were messed up too. The few eapps I
had added to the .order file were still being sorted correctly.

I've searched the mailing list, but so far I haven't come across any
posts about a similar problem. Does anyone know what's going on?

I'm using the DR17 RPMS from Didier.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Wow..I sent this email from the wrong account, thought it was toast, and
in the mean time figured out what I was doing wrong.

So far e17 has been great!

Would something similar to this also work for using Enlightenment in
Gnome?

That's what I figured.

Now that I've tried it out and the novelty has worn off, my question is
this: what's the benefit?

I don't know if I just don't understand the point or if I don't know how
to take advantage of such a setup, but right now this doesn't seem very
useful.

Actually, I have the entire gnome menu now in enlightenment, so that's
nice. Is that it, though?

Is this possible in e17? If not, how would one prevent windows covering

Do you mean the second "icon" that appears in the engage module for some
applications? If so, I find this annoying. For example, I have a
Firefox eap configured in the engage module. When I click it, Firefox
launches (as it should), but then a second Firefox "icon" appears in
engage. Some other apps do the same thing (e.g. Evolution, Azureus,
XMMS).

Is this normal? If so, why, and assuming it's possible, how do I stop
this behaviour?

I tried your suggestion, but it didn't work.

For example, my evolution.eap has a window class of Evolution. I
started Evolution from the terminal, and it's window class was the same.
There's something else going on that I'm not seeing.

BTW, XMMS used to do the same thing, until I changed my xmms.eap used in
engage to the one supplied with Enlightenment. Now when I start XMMS,
no further icons appear in engage. I compared the xmms.eap I created to
the one included with enlightenment, and the details were the same. The
only difference is that if I use my xmms.eap in engage, starting XMMS
creates another icon in enage. What gives?

Thanks for your help.
