So it literally generates 2 x events as if they were 2 presses - even with
the same timestamp. this is an x/driver/hardware problem. i ONLY see this on
my cheap dell mouse. my logitech and other mice have never done this -
identical kernels and x servers, so i definitely would guess you have a
  hardware problem.

This problem can be a hardware problem; however, I guess the
user's problem is just he used to have a PS/2 mouse on his psaux port,
and now he uses his usb mouse, it is _also_ handled in
/dev/input/mice. IIRC, with 2.6 kernels, other mice than psaux port
ones are software'lly mapped to /dev/psaux. X sees to
sections which each give on event. X receives 2 events and so on, the
wheel is used, 2 turns are made :)

i don't think so. i have the same setup - and only mouse WHEELS events get
doubled. button presses dont.

 Just my 2 ___-cents,
and btw, thanks for the good work, all of you E-devs.

I'm not sure there's many french-speaking users on this mailing-list,
and certainly even less that have the answer to your problem, so I
 translate :
The problem is that when he tries to switch to another virtual desktop
with the mouse wheel, it jump one desktop, which means he can't access
to even desktops. He tried X and enlightenment doc he found, and he
googled as much as he could, but he didn't manage to solve his problem.
 He's using debian.

In my opinion, it's more a problem with the conf of your mouse than with
enlightenment. Do you have the same problem with other apps ? Have you
tried with xev ? (you should see two events on moving your wheel : one
press and one release) Did you have the same problem with your previous
 mouse ?
I think I already saw something about this on an e17 mailing-list, but I
 think nobody knew the solution.

run xev - check to see. my el cheapo dell mouse that comes with this machine
actually produces 1 mouse press events when scrolling down or up: see below the
xev output:

mouse driver properties and options are a matter for X to do. E has no control
over that. you CAN change acceleration and such with xset, but not mouse
sensitivity (resolution and polling speed). without changing your X configs.
