I've got the same advice for for lua5.1-socket as well [1], so that's
the way I'll do it.

Thanks for the help!

[EPEL-devel] lua5.1-lpeg for EPEL8

2019-10-22 Thread Tomas Krizek
Hi,

I'm trying to build lua-http package for EPEL8, which has lua-lpeg as a
dependency.

While lua-lpeg was maintained in EPEL7, it was moved to the base
distribution with RHEL8.

The issue is there are two versions of lua - 5.3 and 5.1. And I need the
package for both lua versions. This is how the lua-lpeg package is set
up in EPEL7. But in RHEL8, there is only lua-lpeg for lua 5.3.

How can I resolve this situation? Do I file a bug against RHEL8 and hope
the lua-lpeg package for lua 5.1 will be included in next release? Or is
it possible to get an exception for EPEL8, so that I could build the
package for lua 5.1 only?

Thanks for any help!

[EPEL-devel] knot / knot-resolver package rebase

2019-06-26 Thread Tomas Krizek
Hi,

I'd like to rebase knot and knot-resolver packages to their latest
upstream versions (Knot DNS 2.8.2, Knot Resolver 4.0.0) in EPEL 7.

Reasons
---
- upstream of Knot DNS supports only 2.7 and 2.8; the knot version in
EPEL 7 (2.6.9) is unsupported and will not receive any more security or
other bugfixes
- upstream of Knot Resolver supports only the latest version which is
binary-compatible only with Knot DNS 2.8+; the version of knot-resolver
in EPEL7 will not receive any more security or other bugfixes

Potential Issues

- in case the user has made changes to default configuration of Knot
Resolver, manual update of the config file may be required [1]
- in case the user has written custom module for Knot Resolver, a manual
update may be required [1]

Additional info
---
- upstream has documented the update process [1], [2] and it should be
seamless for Knot DNS (and default configurations of Knot Resolver)
