Summary
The efficiency of a fuel cell is very low ( ~22%) compared to a
lithium-ion battery (Electrovaya) which is ~ 92%.
The fuel cell as “the future” of the auto industry never realized -
lithium is the incumbent now and powers millions of electric vehicles from
Tesla, Nissan and others.
Electrovaya is the only manufacturer that does not use toxic chemicals
in manufacturing its batteries, resulting in a lower cost, safer product;
also contributes to preserving company shareholder value.
Wal-Mart, the world’s most sophisticated distribution company, is now
working with Electrovaya to develop lithium-ion battery power for its
forklift trucks, enabling higher productivity, fast charging and three-shift
operation.
Electrovaya's lithium-ion batteries are less expensive than a fuel cell,
replacing the need for hydrogen storage with the existing, well-established
electric grid.
Recently, Electrovaya announced that it is working with Wal-Mart and others
in the distribution and warehousing field by supplying its lithium-ion
batteries for forklift truck propulsion. This industry, which is driven
towards productivity, until recently was controlled by lead-acid batteries
to power its electric forklift trucks.
The limitations of the lead-acid battery are legendary so that recently
there was a move by Plug Power to replace lead-acid with their fuel cell.
So, the key question is whether Electrovaya's lithium-ion battery offers a
superior performance and can displace both fuel cells and lead-acid battery
power?
There are several reasons why Electrovaya's most recent V2.0 SuperPolymer is
superior to both of these alternatives.
1. Efficiency
Lead-acid battery problems of low efficiency, voltage drop, low cycle life
and long charging time add to the environmental challenges of hydrogen, acid
and lead in the environment.
In the case of fuel cells, poor energy efficiency is a fact of life. The
various steps in the well-to-wheel cycle, including electrolysis,
transmission and conversion via the fuel cell causes energy losses so that
typical round trip efficiencies barely exceed 20%.

Few vehicles are as important to American exceptionalism as the Jeep, and
many would consider converting a 1969 Jeep CJ5 to an electric car as heresy.
Thankfully in Europe there are few to protest such a conversion, which
electric boat maker New Electric undertook at the behest of a customer. The
end result is something I wouldn’t mind having in my own driveway.
Utilizing Siemens electric motor, the CJ5 EV can churn out a maximum of 110
kW/148 horsepower and 300 nM/220 lb-ft of torque, which is about on par with
what you could expect from the stock inline-six back in the day. Battery
capacity is rated at an impressive 33 kWh, which is about 30% more than
you’d find in a Nissan LEAF, which should translate into more than 100 miles
of driving between charges.
The conversion is reaching the final stages, with a recent video update
explaining that the CJ5 had just passed local VIN inspection and needed just
a few more items to be considered “road legal” according to national laws in
the Netherlands. While many Jeep purists might be up in arms regarding such
a conversion, frankly I don’t see any problem with it as a Jeep fan (and
former Wrangler owner) myself. Instant torque would be great for rock
crawling, in addition to being a lot less obnoxious and damaging to the
sorts of environments one might want to off-road on. While New Electric has
more experience in zero-emissions boats than cars, this conversion seems to
have been with plenty of professionalism.
Still, some people just don’t see the point in taking a perfectly good
classic and converting it into an electric vehicle. Remember when hot
rodding was about doing something drastically different from the status quo?
This electric Jeep CJ5 conversion is hot rodding for the 21st century as far
as I’m concerned.

A robber was captured on Thursday by Lanshan Police of Linyi, Shandong
province, right after he had returned from the temple giving thanks to the
gods for having eluded the police NetEase reported. Is this a case of poetic
justice, or is he just a really, really dumb robber?
The main suspect, who bears the surname of Zhang, had committed three
robberies in total - including stealing an electric bicycle as a gift for
his girlfriend. He was caught at the elevator in his complex building after
he returned home from praying in a temple for "good luck" (for not being
caught).
Zhao told the police that he worships Guan Gong and burns incense offerings
to him every day in hopes of not getting caught.
Zhao, along with his brother and the other suspect were detained in jail for
having stolen dozens of electric cars and tricycles.

and spoofs since its release, but this one might take the cake.
A Power Wheels spoof of the original commercial has gone viral with a young
boy dressed in a suit drivinghis Power Wheels electric car while delivering
near spot-on lines.
