Tesla Model 3 on highway
Jeff Klakring Jun 20, 2016
Spied this in Palo Alto last week on the 280. I was driving north when I saw
three teslas merging on to the highway. It took me a few seconds to realize
it was a Model 3, and once I did I'm pretty sure I executed the fastest
three lane change maneuver in history.

Sorry for the vertical video everyone. I was driving and my friend Aaron was
recording (blame him). At the time we weren't thinking that thousands of
people would watch in on youtube. We both reserved one the first day so we
were in full nerd-out mode seeing one in the wild.

Tesla Motors Inc Matte Black Model 3 Prototype Spotted Cruising Highway

Tesla Motors Inc most craved and most affordable electric vehicle (EV), the
Model 3, was unveiled at the end of March 2016. Since then, the lower-end
luxury sedan has been rarely seen in the wild.

Following the Mode 3 unveiling, Motor Trends received an opportunity to
photoshoot the prototypes of the vehicle at the lithium-ion battery plant,
the Gigafactory, near Reno, NV. A Silver Model 3 prototype was also seen in
the in the Marin Headlands, in April.

On Monday, YouTube user Jeff Klakring uploaded a video of a matte black
Model 3 at Interstate-20 near Palo Alto, which is home to the EV maker’s
headquarters. It appeared to be first prototype testing of the compact sedan
on public roads. Additionally, two Model S sedans escorted the Model 3.

A quick glimpse of the vehicle’s interior shows that not many changes have
been done to the vehicle. From its door handles to the huge panoramic glass
roof, everything is almost the same as seen before. According to Teslarati,
the final Model X prototype was seen on the same highway before the SUV hit
the production lines in late 2015.

The Model 3 looks astonishing in the matte black color and Teslarati
understands about 90% of the reservation holders will choose the color.
Although we have to wait until the end of 2017 to customize the vehicle in
its own Design Studio, curious Model 3 customers can configure it now on an
unofficial design studio created by a TMC user.

Assuming that Elon Musk, chief executive at Tesla, confirmed the Model 3
design will be finalized by the end of this month, it is possible that this
is the last version of the world’s most popular mass-market EV. The company
has set July 1, 2017 as a deadline for in-house and supplied parts.

Tesla’s Model 3 Could be Delivered Sooner Than Expected
June 23, 2016 Courtney Lepping

In a move to acquire customer satisfaction, Tesla responded to the need for
the Model 3 sedan by changing the production start date. Model 3 is expected
to be produced in November 2016 instead of the original 2017 date.

The high demand for Tesla’s Model 3 may be because it is a “green” electric
vehicle with cool features like the ability to drive without charging for
about 215 miles, the ability to go from zero to 60 mph in less than six
seconds, and its physical design.

Model 3’s exterior has glass from the windshield to the rear, while the
interior will have a touch screen and fewer physical buttons than older
vehicles. The price is fair, estimated to be anywhere from $35,000 to
$42,000 depending on add-on features.

Recall Tesla joined with Panasonic to produce lithium-ion battery cells for
vehicles such as Model 2, Model S, and Model X, and the desire for Model 3
becomes obvious. For Tesla’s benefit, Panasonic is about to begin producing
the batteries.

Customers who reserved a Model 3 can expect delivery in the near future.
This is quite the accomplishment, given that the number of pre-orders for
Model 3 totals to almost 400,000.

The batteries for Model 3 will need to be manufactured. For this, Tesla’s
battery plant, deemed the Gigafactor, in Nevada will open July 29.
Invitations addressed to guests planning to attend the Gigafactor Grand
Opening were recently sent out by Tesla.

Evidence of an attempt to meet the production deadline was observed recently
by drivers in California. Model 3 was spotted and videotaped by several
drivers who were unaware of the changes to the release date. It may have
been a simple test drive for Model 3, but it indicates Tesla is ahead of the
game in pleasing its customers.
