Hi,

Am I the only person for whom spell checking has worked before but has
stopped in the last few days?

Dan my eternal gratitude snipped]

Well, I did it. I converted everything over to maildir and now mutt and
evolution coexist happily. But the last line above:
> but you do have to expunge your inbox when in Evo to see newly
> arrived messages.

..is kind of annoying. I was happy to discover that gkrellm supports
maildir, too (yay!), so I know when mail arrives, but it's a pain to
have to expunge evolution in order to check existing mailboxes for
external intervention. Albeit a small one :).

Would it be possible to enable the 'check mail every n minutes' thing
for server type none and just go and check the status of existing
folders ? I realize this probably isn't a 1.0 thing, but it sure would
be nice.

You folks have done an incredible job on Evolution. I can't thank you
enough.

An extremely happy Evolution user,

[Evolution] Importing Gnome Calendar

2001-09-14 Thread Robert Marz

Hi,

I'm trying to import my Gnome Calendar File (v1.4).

I copied the file ~/.gnome/user-cal.vcf to ~/calendar.vcf
If I start the importer, choose the file, and file type and select the
calendar in the navigator, I get to Error-Messages and nothing else happens:

1:
Importing /home/rbm/calendar.vcf.
Starting OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_Addressbook_VCard_Importer

2:
Error loading /home/rbm/calendar.vcf.

I wonder about the first messages, because I try to import a calendar, not
addresses, then again vcard should be vcard...

Anyone any Ideas?

regards

Robert

[Evolution] Odd 'Reply' Behavior

2001-09-14 Thread David G. Simmons

I am seeing some odd behaior when I try to Reply to messages where the
sender is in my addressbook (and only to those recipients that are IN my
addressbook). When I hit the Send button, I get a message popping up
that I must specify an address. I then have to delete the address from
the To: field, and re-enter it, at which point the message gets sent.

Occassionally (apparently randomly) when I double-click on the address
in the To: field to delete it, ALL fields in the header (To: CC:
Subject: disappear and the entire header area goes gray.

Before I file a bug, anyone else experiencing this? I am Running the

[Evolution] Folders not always working with filters

2001-09-14 Thread Rupert Heesom

I have discovered that if I create a folder PRIOR to creating a filter
(not from within the filter dlg), then the filter is unlikely to -
1) Be recognised by Evo as even existing until Evo is reloaded.
2) Be unusable by a filter at all.

If I create a folder AS PART of a filter creation (from the filter dlg
box), then it works fine!!

Surely a folder should work from any given instance of program
iteration? [good program debugging]

2001-09-14 Thread Lee Jones

I am also experiencing this. If I focus the curosor on the 'To' field
and hit the backspace key for the last letter it will pop up the address
book choices to click. This has proven quicker then going all the way
back to the address book. But yes, I'm getting the same thing. This
doesn't happen when the addresses in the 'Cc' field are in the address
book, though.

I haven't observed the second behavior (yet).

Re: [Evolution] Folders not always working with filters

2001-09-14 Thread Jeffrey Stedfast

Seeing as how a filter only uses the folder's path on the filesystem,
your claim doesn't make any sense. And since most people are able to add
filters and set folders that already existed, this leads me to believe
that you are somehow confused.

[Evolution] Still freezing after pressing send/receive button

2001-09-14 Thread Pascal DeMilly

Since the last 3 snapshots I have experienced freezes when trying to
download my mail. The progress window pops-up then freezes. The message
in the status bar is something like: Getting IMAP messages ...

One thing that could be useful would be to display the name of the
mailbox being currently downloaded in the status bar.

Also I would like to provide a backtrace or core dump to the developers
but don't know what to do. Could somebody tell me what to do to get a
stack dump of the component that freezes and what component is
responsible for that freeze.

Thanks

[Evolution] A couple of bugs ...

2001-09-14 Thread Ryan P Skadberg

Hi All ...

A couple of things I have noticed in the latest snapshots and am
wondering if it is just me orif other people are seeing this.

1. Loading images from sender's in addressbook seems to be broken. If
I click on a message and I have that sender in my addressbook, it still
does not load the images unless I specifically tell it to.

2. Here's a way I can constantly lock evolution. I have a folder that
recieves a number of multiple megabyte messages each day. If I click on
the folder, hit Ctrl-A, Ctrl-D, Evolution, selects one of the messages
seperately and tries to load it. If I hit Ctrl-E at this point
(especially if on a 56k connection), it basically puts Evo in a race
condition and it spins trying to load a message it just expunged. At
this point, I need to do a killev and restart. I have tried this in all
of the latest 10 snapshots or so and seen this behavior. My thought
would be if I hit Ctrl-D after a Ctrl-A it should NOT try to actually
select a message.
3. It would be really nice if the Summary has problems loading news
feeds it could tell the user WHICH news feeds it had trouble with, so
you can easily tell which ones to remove/report as problems.

Other than those three things, Evolution is looking better and better
every day. Thanks for all the great work to the guys at Ximian.

[Evolution] Evolution freezing when pressing Send/Receive

I started having problems getting my messages 3 snapshots ago. The 1st
time I press SEND/RECEIVE everything is fine. However the 2nd time,

second later evolution. I have included the messages generated by
evolution-mail from the beginning until the freeze. I see a lot of
assertions which might be of interest to a developer. I will fill a bug

[Evolution] Deleting from a list of Unread messages

2001-09-14 Thread John Hearns

The new version of Evo has impressed me - at last I have enough
speed to start going through my inbox and tidy it up.

I sorted on the Unread/Read state of the messages,
and clicked on an Unread message.
If you then Delete, Evo marks that mail with a score through,
but then resorts the mail so that mail is in its correct Unread place.
This is counterto what I would wan tit to do -
ie. to jump to the next unread.

Should I instead configure Evo to move deleted mails directly
to Trash? How do I do this - its not obvious in the mail server
settings.

Make sure you look for duplicates and add your info to an existing bug report, because
I know they exist.

I had this problem BIG TIME with the 0905 snapshot. It made Evolution practically
useless. I haven't had this problem with the 0908 snapshot (and
therefore closed my own bug reports) so maybe it went away and came back. I'm not
about to download a newer snapshot until I hear it's fixed for
sure!!

I experienced the problem with a POP server. Whatever you report, make sure you
specify POP or IMAP as it could make a difference to the
developers.

It still works for me. I am using the 09140708 snapshot.

It would be nice if the mailman application (which manages the list IIRC) didn't send
a copy of any list message to anybody in the To or CC fields, but
I'll bet that would be rather complicated to implement.

Not sure if this makes sense as an Evo feature though.

I just did that. bug #9521. Is there anybody else experiencing this
behavior ? Maybe it is just my system. I have noticed that java doesn't
work anymore in mozilla since I upgraded to 0.9.3. I don't think that
the 2 could be related as I don't use ssl and I think the only thing out
of Mozilla evolution use is their ssl library. But I could be wrong.
Would not be the 1st time.

Also I just noticed that reply doesn't default anymore to the address of
the folder I am writing e-mail from. This was working few snapshots ago
I thought. Can somebody confirm that before I fill a bug report ?

Re: [Evolution] Folders not always working with filters

2001-09-14 Thread Eric Lambart

There IS still something seriously wrong with folder creation. Just yesterday (0908
snap) I created a new folder via the folder creation dialog, and tried
via Ctrl-Shift-M to move a bunch of messages into that folder. It claimed the folder
(filesystem path) did not exist. I clicked on the new folder, and
upon opening it (well, attempting to), Evo claimed the folder did not exist. At this
point I verified through a terminal that the path did exist, though I'm
not sure it did before I tried to access it.

If I remember correctly, upon clicking away the error dialog, clicking to another
folder and then back to the new folder, the error message did not
appear and then I was able to move messages into that folder. I did not have to
restart Evolution.

I had seen this error since early August so I did not bother checking the status of
any bug reports which I am sure are already there.

That is not configurable. Mail is never actually moved to the Trash; Trash is just a
vfolder and messages get permanently deleted from both the
source folder and the Trash folder when you Expunge the source folder.

Try doing View->Hide Deleted Messages. This may behave the way you want, though I've
never tried sorting by Read/Unread so there may be a
bug there.

Hope this helps.

[Evolution] spell checking in evolution?

2001-09-14 Thread mark

Ive managed to get the spell checking working in evo (and i need it with
my grammer), but I cannot find anyway to actually alter the mistakes to
the correct spelling as in abiword or allow you to add it to a database
of words to check thru (as in take it from a dictonary)

[Evolution] Latest Snapshot and GPG

2001-09-14 Thread Gonyou, Austin

I still can't send email to certain people using GPG and encrypting it for
them only or both of us. A bug that I can see though is that even when I
have something encrypted for me, as well as the recipient, it still sends
the message, even though it didn't encrypt it for them too. Should that be
entered in bugzilla?
