[Evolution] pgp-question

2001-10-05 Thread Erik Bågfors

Hi all.

Just a short question. It seams that when I send pgp-encrypted mails to
people the mail has ^M at the end of everyline, before it's encrypted.
(pc-linebreaks that is) Is this a bug or is there a reason for this? A
friend that runs gnus doesn't like this at all :)

oh that would be so unbelievably handy - especially if there was
some way of entering these en mass or importing them from other sources.
For example I use Geneweb[0] for maintaining my family tree [1] and it
would be sooo unbelievably nice to be able to import geneweb
anniveraries into Evolution.

I had the same problem, I am using now a local imap server.
It is working, but sometimes evolution 0.15 has some problems.
Somtimes the list of the mailfolders etc. are not correct, and
evolution sometimes do not show the mails in the subscribed folders.

[Evolution] existing features ?

2001-10-05 Thread christophe barbé

Have I a few queestions concerning evolution beta 4 (I know for beta 5).

The gpg support seems well integrated in evolution. When I receive a
mail signed by somebody not already in my keys list, is there a way to
download its key automatically ?
I'm using gpa to import the key but I looks like something easily
automatizable.

Is the toobar customizable ? I would like to add a button to go to the
next unread message. I know that I can use a shortcut (N) but a
associated button would be fine.

When I select a mailbox from the shortcuts box, the box is opened but no
mail is selected so the toolbox is not active and I need to select a
mail before going to the next unread message. btw It would be nice to be
able to open the malbox with the first unread message.

This is required by the specification because the recipient's machine is
of unknown type, therefor you must convert all text to the canonical
end-of-line format (ie CRLF) before encrypting.

Re: [Evolution] NEW problem with Evo and encryption

It's not using a "different" spec, it's using "THE" spec. There is no
other spec. Their mailer is broken, period.

Btw, Evolution can handle receiving email from these broken mailers but
does not send out the broken format because that is just WRONG.

Hi Rick,

I have the same problem with Bugzilla, I am 'working' (or at least

system.

What's more, the following:

- I still cannot post to the evolution list.
I subscribed several weeks ago, I receive posts,
  but mine are not distributed.
- I cannot send e-mails with evolution / bug#11491
Now I cannot access bugzilla because it does not

I created another account with my other e-mail-address,
([EMAIL PROTECTED]), which does not contain special characters,
thinking this could have been the problem -
  It wasn't! Same stuff.
- I cannot access ftp.ximian.com anymore.
It asks for username and password, and does not accept 'anonymous'

Regarding the 1st issue, I would ask you to forward this to the list

This is a known bug, Luis is working on it, I think.
To work-around this:
Go to the main page, log in there.
Then, when logged in, go to the bug and do whatever you want to do :)

Just define a keyserver in your ~/.gnupg/options. I use:

keyserver wwwkeys.us.pgp.net

That is a GPG feature btw, not evolution's.

Are you using sslwrap with IMAP? I have huge troubles with IMAP as soon
as I turn on ssl, and few without; something to do with the ssl stream
handling. Maybe.

Yeah, I have trouble with IMAP access too. Sometimes it just seems to become VERY slow, and sometimes it just freezes. I don't think it has anything to do with the network since I can telnet into the mail server on port 143, and the response there is very quick. In Evolution, when I switch back an forth between IMAP folders, things slow down to a crawl, and I can see all those connections on the status bar, but nothing seems to be happening. I also ran ethereal to capture packets, but I did not see too much IMAP traffic. Of course it could be server side, bu other IMAP clients are behaving normally.

Re: [Evolution] New problems with 0.15 and IMAP

2001-10-05 Thread Pascal DeMilly

My experience is actually the opposite. I use exclusively IMAP folders.
I have over 10 IMAP accounts with over 40 folders. I move e-mail between
each of them all the time. Some of these folders contain thousands of
messages. I haven't experienced any major problems with Evolution and
IMAP. The IMAP server I am using is Courier-IMAP which uses Maildir as a
store. One point that might be important is that the access to my IMAP
server is over a LAN.

Just wanted to share my experience with you. It might not be an
Evolution issue after all.

Pascal

Re: [Evolution] Checking mbox folders

Hmm... so I'd have to use an IMAP server for Evolution to check a few
mailboxes which might have new mail? Or does just hitting Send/Receive
make Evolution requery each mailbox to see if there is new mail? I'm
using Gkrellm to biff the mail, so I'm already notified in that way.

Btw.. I've also found that Evolution doesn't seem to set the read bit
correctly on mbox files .. it seems .. since the mailcheck program and
mutt both tell me certain messages are new when I've read them, and
expunged (which seems like an unnecessary next step)..

Anyways .. I LOVE this program .. it helps with sorting and sifting mail
like no other mail program I've seen ..

And, in the Summary screen up top ... is there a definitive guide to
writing one of these notifications? I'd like to see one which had the
local time and times around the globe of certain places that are picked
(that would be nice).. if its not already done, I'd be willing to throw
in a few nuts and bolts to get it working. I'll take a look, but by
chance does anyone know where all the Summary data is kept?

Thanks!

Ok, that makes sense. Is there a quick explanation as to what Evolution
is using to check for new messages in folders?

I could always look into patching the mailcheck program that comes with
GKrellM to support that method of checking mail if I need to :).

Or is there a plan in the works to set the status flag just for backward
compatibility? Either way I'd like to know how Evolution is doing it..
so I can stop these freaky counts on my mailcheck app :)

Re: [Evolution] Is it a problem that opening the Calendar causes aevolution-alarm-notify process to be left running after Evolution exits?

It is supposed to keep running, so you get reminders for appointments
even when Evolution isn't running.

Though we still have reports that reminders aren't working for some
people. Please report any problems with it on bugzilla.

[Evolution] error automake-ing cvs gtkhtml

2001-10-05 Thread Joe Barnett

I'm trying to compile gtkhtml from cvs, and getting
the following error(s) when ./autogen.sh tries to
run automake:

Running automake --gnu ...
configure.in:25: LDFLAGS was set with `+=' and is now set with `='
src/Makefile.am:210: testgtkhtml_CFLAGS multiply defined in condition
TRUE

  testgtkhtml_CFLAGS (User, where = 210) =
  {
TRUE => $(GLIBWWW_CFLAGS)
  }
**Error**: automake failed.

any ideas how i can fix this?

Thanks,
Joe
