Re: [Evolution] Calendar Reminder Problem
I have this same problem on 1.2.1, RH 7.3, and I don't have to exit Evo and restart for it to happen. Every time I switch from the Mail view to the Calendar view and then back again, or add/modify an appointment, I get all of the day's expired reminders repeated. It seems like anything that invokes the calendar component triggers the alarm mechanisms to fire again for the last 24 hours. -- Bob Haddleton [EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ evolution maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution

I don't believe that the POP3 protocol will allow you to do filtering without downloading the whole message. It has been discussed on this list several times, but in Evo 1.2 you can set up a filter to pipe the message to a program (like SpamAssassin - www.apamassassin.org) and then process the message based on the return code from the program. However this requires downloading the entire message and sending it to the program to be filtered. See the list archives for details on setting up the filter to use SpamAssassin - it works really well. -- Bob Haddleton [EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ evolution maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution

There is a Mailcheck applet that you can add to your Gnome panel (both Gnome1 and 2) and you can configure it to check a mailspool/maildir/POP3/IMAP account and play a sound/display a graphic when new mail arrives. [Evolution] Calendar performance
Evolution 1.2, RH 7.3 I'm having trouble with the calendar component getting stuck, or taking a long time, when refreshing the screen after changing the displayed timeframe (month view, scrolling to the next week or two). It says "Searching..." in the status bar and never paints the appointment information on the screen. Possibly related to this is the fact that whenever I do a calendar operation (add an appointment, or "Open in New Window" the calendar) I get all of the pop-up reminders displayed again for the appointments from the past few days. My calendar.ics file is about 1.6MB, so I don't know whether that is considered a big file or not. I would really like to find (or write) a utility that would go in an prune old entries out of the file to make it smaller and hopefully help the performance. If anyone knows of such a utility, please let me know. Thanks -- Bob Haddleton [EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ evolution maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution

If your email uses IMAP, and you have shell access to the mail server, the best way to do it is to use procmail to invoke SpamAssassin (http://www.spamassassin.org/) on your incoming mail. If you are using POP, or don't have access to the IMAP server, you can set up a filter to invoke /usr/bin/spamassassin -e on your incoming mail messages and check the return code. If the return code from spamassassin is non-zero, then the action should be to move the message into a Spam folder. The filter would look something like: If Criterion "Pipe Message to Shell Command" "/usr/bin/spamassassin -e" "Does Not Return" "0" Then Action "Move to Folder" "Spam" Hope this helps... -- Bob Haddleton [EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ evolution maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution

[Evolution] Can't tab out of Cc/Bcc fields in Compose window (sometimes)
Using the latest CVS snapshot (the RC hasn't show up yet when I look in Red Carpet) I've noticed that at times I cannot "tab" out of the Cc and Bcc fields in the Compose window, even when the fields are blank. Other times it works just fine. When I addressed this message, I typed "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" in the To: field, hit tab 3 times to go to the Subject field, but got stuck in the "Cc:" field and could not advance out of it. The same thing has also happened in the Bcc field. Now, however, if I put my cursor back in the To field and hit tab 3 times, it works fine. Is there possibly an interaction with wombat trying to do address lookups? Something else that may be related - backspace seems to stop working at times. If I enter an address in the Cc field (for example), and the address is in my contacts list, and then change my mind and try to backspace over it, I can only backspace a few characters before the cursor disappears from the field and no more keystrokes are accepted. If I put the cursor back in the field I can backspace one more character before it happens again. This is also an intermittent problem and does not always happen. Any ideas?
