I actually only began to explore this option when I read Victoria's original post. according to evolution's man page: === To send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] evolution mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To use Evolution as the handler for mailto: links in GNOME applications, set the GNOME URL handler in the GNOME Con trol Center to be: evolution "%s" (The similar approach works for Mozilla and other applica tions.) putting evolution "%s" in the GNOME control centre's URL handler section doesn't seem to have an effect on Galeon. Mailto links simply don't work. putting evolution "%s" in Galeon's Mail Handler field under Settings -> Preferences -> Programs also doesn't seem to work. I can replicate the original program but putting evolution mailto:"%s"; in the field and then evolution pops up with no address in the To: field. Furthermore, if the mailto link contains something like: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=This is a test ...then the subject of the email appears in the To: field. Any further ideas on how to get this working? [Evolution] Evolutiuon 1.0.5 on FreeBSD -- LDAP support
Is anyone else using Evolution 1.0.5 compiled out of FreeBSD ports? I'm having trouble setting up an LDAP addressbook, and wondered if that option is even compiled in. Yep. That was me who was having that problem. I've started doing it again to (having procmail writing to the same folders that evolution is reading) and haven't seen the problem re-occur yet. I was hoping that now that evolution wasn't beta anymore that problem had been addressed. But to answer the original question, what I do is this: - procmail filters my mail into ~/mail/[folder name] where PINE reads it. - those folders are actually symlinked to ~/evolution/local/Inbox/mbox (or whatever the path to the folder's mbox file happens to be). I'll followup if the mismatch error continues to occur. -- Fred Chagnon [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.minix.ca ___ evolution maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution

[Evolution] Connector source option
Hey all. I've just managed to build Evolution 1.0.3 from the ports collection of FreeBSD (4.4-RELEASE). With this version, I intended to get the Ximian Connector working (licensed and all) so that I could migrate my corporate mail account with our Exchange Server. Now that I've finally got 1.0.3 running on FreeBSD, that goal is almost in reach, but for this one small caveat. The Connector seems to only be available via Red Carpet. I was kind of hoping I could compile it from source. Is this option possible? If I can get the Connector installed, I fully intend on purchasing a License for it's use. -- Fred Chagnon [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.minix.ca ___ evolution maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution

There's probably a race condition going on between procmail and evolution. I'll double check and make sure that procmail is locking files before writing to them. For now my solution to this problem is to move the mbox file somewhere...nuke all the files in the afflicted directory, then move the mbox file back and let Evolution rebuild the .ev-summuary and .ibex files again. ________ Fred ChagnonSystems Administrator [EMAIL PROTECTED] Internet Services and Infrastructure 416.341.5347AT&T Canada "Only in RPGs does fighting make you a better person." - Peter Olafson ___ evolution maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution

The problem actually hasn't happened in awhile. I've got 1.0 running now as well, so I'll hope that it's somehow disppeared for good. The folders shouldn't be open by any other applications. I use procmail to filter my mail into stand ~/mail/ folders which are all symlinked to ~/evolution/local/Inbox/subfolders/.. I need to do it this way so I have pine read out of ~/mail/ and access my mail remotely from a terminal. But the two mail clients are never running simultaneously. Anyway, I'll pay more attention to how it happens should it happen again and keep you posted. Thanks for the info. [Evolution] Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync
Using Evolution 0.99.2, I get this error periodically when I select or deselect specific subfolders of my Inbox. (It's also happening with the trash foler). Once this starts happening to a folder I can't expunge any messages from it. The only workaround I've found is to delete the folder...quit evolution, fire it up again and re-create the folder. (Recreating the folder without first quitting the pp tells me the folder still exists). Can anyone tell me exactly what this error means, what causes it to happen and/or what I can do to prevent it from happening? ________ Fred ChagnonSystems Administrator [EMAIL PROTECTED] Internet Services and Infrastructure 416.341.5347AT&T Canada "Only in RPGs does fighting make you a better person." - Peter Olafson ___ evolution maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution
