[Evolution] LDIF Importer

2002-08-20 Thread Tig Kerkman

We have an old character based office suite,(Edge Office), that I can
dump the old phone books to a ascii file. Then then will run a shell
script against it to create a ldif formatted file. My question is
which attributes are required for a basic address book entry ldif
import??

I currently use OpenLDAP with Evolution for the City of Kenosha, we are
using it for a City Wide Directory.

I am using an old version of OpenLDAP, but it works fine.

I am not able to use LDAP for Calendaring yet though.

Re: [Evolution] Calendar Module

Thanks for the reply,

Sorry but I am confused, I use the contact list to read the free/busy
file that I save to disk??? Where would I do this??

We are trying to learn as much as we can about evolution and the
  calendar functions.

We are having some problems what we do with the publish free/busy, when
we send it to another evolution user, we are only able to save it to
disk. How do we get that into the persons calendar that we sent it to.

Free/busy info only defines the times at which a person is available.
Currently you can save it to disk and then point the free/busy url in
the addressbook at it. We hope to make this easier in the 1.0.x series.

What you may want to look at is the scheduling of meetings via email
(which you seem to have atleast looked at judging from the information
 below).

Also when scheduling a meeting, where does the out of office, busy,
show up. It has legends for each item, but nothing shows is the
  scheduling tabs???

 See above about free/busy information.

[Evolution] LDAP Question/Certified Mail Question

2001-09-13 Thread Tig Kerkman

1) My many thanks to Aaron for allowing me to have access to the
limited documentation for Evolution.

Looking thru the Documentation, I find

To prevent excess network traffic, Evolution will not normally load the
contents of LDAP folders immediately upon opening. You must click
Display All before LDAP folder cards will be loaded from the network.
You can change this behavior in the Contact Preferences window.

But, I cannot find a Display All Option anywhere.

I do have a seperate folder for my LDAP stuff, and I have to open that
folder in order to have the search find information there.

Is there not someway that I can search both the contact folder and the
LDAP (Other Contact folders) at the same time??

2) Is there a Request Return Receipt or something like that in
evolution. I would like to know if someone has read my message, like I
can with netscape?

[Evolution] Printing LDAP

2001-09-10 Thread Tig Kerkman

I currently am using the PRINTER variable for my default printer
destination. But when printing from evolution, the print request are
going to the servers default printer, not mime default printer?? Since
I can print from the command line with a plain lpr to my PRINTER
varialble set in my .bash_profile with no problems, I would think that
evolution should print there also with a plain lpr?? I can force it to
print to my printer by adding the -Pprintername, but evolution does not
remember this and I have to add it each time?

Does evolution not understand the PRINTER variable in my env?

If not, where do I hard code my printer to I do not have to enter it
each time??

Thanks for a great product.
