Re: [Evolution] Evo 1.2 - spell checker missing English
The bug I had (number 1 in this mail) which was that certain languages were not available even though they were installed, has been resolved. I had some stale gconf lock files : ~/.gconfd/lock/ior and ~/.gconf/%gconf-xml-backend.lock/ior. I simply removed them then re-logged and the languages are now available. This gconf bug has to do with NFS and/or system crashes. If you ever get weird configuration issues like this you can safely delete the lock files after closing all your applications, then re-login. Try to install GNOME spell if you don't have it installed. But I do have gnome-spell installed(0.5.1)! I noticed other gnome-spell packages that include /usr/bin/gnome-spell-properties-capplet but the one supplied by Ximian does not. 3) How does one add a language to the list of available languages? As I understand gnome-spell uses pspell and the language dictionaries are in the aspell-* RPMS (e.g. aspell-fr). How about if I have a aspell dictionnary that doesn't have a corresponding RPM? Re: [Evolution] Evo 1.2 - spell checker missing English
Hi, Since my spell problem with evo 1.2, I've upgraded my system to RH8.0, but I went through my system backup from my RH7.1 and I did have a ~/.gconfd/lock/ior but no ~/.gconf/%gconf-xml-backend.lock/ior. I don't know how to tell if they were stale or not, but maybe this was the cause of my no languages available problem. I did have the menu entry in the composer window edit-spell check document available (not grayed out), but it never found any mispellings.
