Re: [Evolution] New messages don't appear
Welcome to the club! This issue is getting reported several times daily, but as yet, I'm not aware of a fix from Ximian. Maybe one of the Ximian folks can give us a hint??? P. I have to select a different mailbox first and then return to Inbox for the new mail to really appear. How can I fix this? I believe that this is an issue with the UoW IMAP server. I always see it with the UoW IMAP server, but never with Courier (so far). UoW IMAPd really is a very bad program... Re: [Evolution] New messages don't appear
Ross, I see the problem with evo/connector to an exchange server, so I think it's more to do with evolution than with a particular email server. I'll try using an IMAP connection to the exchange server and see if it has the same problem. P. If you're seeing it with exchange, then its a problem with connector, you should contact ximian support with the issue, not this list. I find that UoW (at least the UoW shipped with rh62 and 73) doesn't allow this, whilst Courier does. That's like saying that BIND DNS software is lousy because others say it is lousy. But, the main DNS servers on the Internet are based on BIND. And my own experience is, that it works very well at corporate level. If the University of Washington itself uses its own IMAPv4 software, for don't know how many users, it can't be that lousy. Of course it allows multiple concurrent connections. I'm logged in as 3 x tonye in Evo and Imp and 1 x evy, at the moment. can use Maildir as a folder format, No, just MAILBOX. But you can make UW 2002a MAILBOX mail/ subdirectories, even with Evo. and lets evolution reread the current folder without having to switch folders first. Course it does. I find that UoW (at least the UoW shipped with rh62 and 73) doesn't allow this, whilst Courier does. What Red Hat ships of standard network and Internet stuff (even with 8.0) is not good. It's been broken umpteen times already and Red Hat updated and updated and updated ... And this machine (is an Internet server, too) runs Red Hat 7.2+ I compile my own. And PHP4 c-client and all the rest of it. I don't doubt that the Courier stuff shipped with your Red Hats is better. But don't decry what you don't know about new stuff :-) After all, Evo 1.2.1 didn't ship with your Red Hat distros, did it?
