Hi,
hmm, there are some tweaks to do it right with Google's IMAP
implementation. It might be a bug, if it doesn't work for you.
As a starter, is your receiving URL's host part ending with
either "gmail.com" or "googlemail.com"? Feel free to file
a bug [1] for this issue, as it'll be easier to investigate there.
Bye,
Milan

Yep, find it!
However, when I press delete key, it's not just moving it to
[Gmail]/Trash. The mail will still be in [Gmail]/All Mail...

Hi,
only IMAP provider, not IMAP+, supports it [1].

The Evolution GOA module is configuring account as IMAP+, but the main
problem would be to find which folder corresponds to GMail's Trash
folder, because the folder name is localized based on the user's locale
preferences on the GMail account (server side). Maybe they provide some
kind of annotation on folders, I do not know, I only think it's not
possible to find just by a folder name.

Well... In fact, I can't change the trash folder in 'Special Folders'
here. It dosen't give me anything can do that.
I can only change 'sent mail folder' and 'drafts folder'! I'm using
version 3.2.2 stable on Arch Linux.

You can change the ‘Special Folders’ preferences for the account in the
account settings dialogue, where you should be able to change the trash
folder to [Gmail]/Trash. That works for me.

Note that it does then break the behaviour where you can press ‘delete’
on a message in your inbox to archive it (rather than trash it).

I don't know if this is already the case, but this seems like something
which should be done automatically if you set your GMail account up
through GOA.

[Evolution-hackers] better deleting for GMail

2011-12-24 Thread Mike Manilone
Hi list,
The default behavior of deleting is moving it to /Trash folder, but if
you're using GMail [with IMAP?], you cannot remove them at all.
Then I tried to move them to [Gmail]/Trash. It's ok!

So, hackers, why don't add a configuration entry about deleting folder?
Then the behavior of deleting is as good as thunderbird.
