You would have almost all the functionalities that you have under Linux. Majority of the plugins were ported. There was a 2.24 branching made a couple of days back. So a 2.24 installer for Evolution on Windows would be due in a few more days with a lot other plugins being ported now. thank you very much that's a very good news for me! can't wait to test it. :-) regards ___ Evolution-list mailing list Evolution-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list

[Evolution] Mail Filters have Disappeared
All my mail filters have disappeared, possibly related to my creating a new filter with a very long name (for this very list) -- I neglected to change the name provided by the filter creator. I have restored them from a backup, so it's not a big problem, but does anyone know what might have happened? Re: [Evolution] evolution exchange
sorry for only reverting now. I have tried the send receive. It took a good half hour to finish and did not solve the problem. Does evolution not just sync in the background and keep up to date? It does eventually come right but I can't see why? --- Begin Message --- Send/Receive --- End Message --- ___ Evolution-list mailing list Evolution-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list

That's not good. Does it do this only the first time, or every time you press Send/Receive? The first time Evo connects to Exchange it generates a local cache so it doesn't have to re-fetch everything every time. This can take a while. But, once it's done once you shouldn't have this kind of slowdown thereafter. You did say you're using the latest Ubuntu right? There were some bugs in older versions of Evolution that caused the cache to be reacquired every time Evo started, not just the first time. But that's been fixed for a while now. > Does evolution not just sync in the background and keep up to date? I believe this is controlled, as I mentioned before, by the various options in the "Receiving Options" tab of the account editor (Edit -> Preferences then choose your Exchange account and click Edit). What settings do you have for things like "Check for new messages every N minutes"? What about "Check for new messages in all folders"? What about the ones at the bottom like "Automatically synchronize account locally", etc. ___ Evolution-list mailing list Evolution-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list
[Evolution] Importing messages
I would like to import messages from Evolution and Thunderbird in Windows into Evo 2.22.3.1 in Ubuntu. What files should I be looking for? I've been rummaging through the folders of both apps in Windows and can't seem to locate the messages. I do not know, it depends what name you entered there exactly. What version are you using? I think there were some changes in some similar part some time ago, definitely included in actual version (2.24). Re: [Evolution] Merge/Syncing multiple evolution installations.
On Wed, 2008-09-24 at 23:18 -0300, Fabio Rafael da Rosa wrote: > Under "Miscellaneous", there is a network entity that you can use to > synchronize accross machines So this isn't something Evolution specific, just some generic file synchronization? Then how does it handle merging of files which have been changed on both machines, like for example the contact database file when different contacts were added? Disclaimer: I have worked on PIM synchronization via SyncML for over three years (SyncEvolution). Synchronization is *hard* to get right. I find it annoying when projects are touted as a solution when in reality they haven't implemented the necessary parts, are not stable and/or don't address the hard problems at all. Just my two cents. I haven't tried Conduit. I'm sure it's a fine program, it just doesn't sound like it really does two-way synchronization of data that is stored differently on different sides and can be changed independently at the same time. Back to the topic: I have synchronized Evolution data from one machine to another via rsync. Any other means of moving the files would also work *as long* as one is careful to only work on one machine at a time and moves the data when switching machines. However, the Evolution developers make no guarantee that the on-disk format of files remains the same between different versions of Evolution. The supported method is extracting the data via the APIs, storing it in a standard format and reimporting it. -- Bye, Patrick Ohly -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.estamos.de/ ___ Evolution-list mailing list Evolution-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list
