[Evolution] "MigrateEvolutionToNewComputer" did not work
Hello, I just transferred my evolution to a new computer, following the instructions given in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MigrateEvolutionToNewComputer. And actually, I already had success with these instructions last week while transferring to an interim computer while awaiting the arrival of my new computer. So I know the instructions work, and I know I was able to follow them last week. But now that my new computer has arrived, after doing the transfer I found that evolution would not open. When I click on evolution to start it up, it gives only a brief flash on the bottom panel of the following two messages: "Starting Evolution Mail", and then "Migrating...". But then nothing ever opens. The process I followed in executing the transfer was to first do: gconftool-2 --shutdown evolution --force-shutdown And then: Copy the directories ~/.evolution, ~/.gconf/apps/evolution and ~/.gnome2_private/Evolution from the source computer to the same place on the target computer. So all the above I did, and Evolution is not opening on the new computer. I should also state that Evolution was never used or opened on the new computer prior to transferring over the above directories. What went wrong, and what do I need to do to get Evo to open??? [Evolution] Font size printing calendar
I have Evolution 2.26.1 installed as a part of Ubuntu 9.04. I succeeded in creating some calendar entries (appointments, and events with no time). In printing I find that the events with no time are printed with extremely small fonts while the appointments are fine. I have googled to find out how to correct this problem with no success. Not sure about Calendar (I don't use it). Drafts might be local or remote, depending on your Defaults config for the account. There is no standard folder called Deleted Items (at least in Evo 2.24 which is what I use) so I don't know what that is. There was a hacked up version, based on LDAP but it was buggy and required some new internal APIs. Bottomline is: evo-mapi needs a GAL backend implementation. When it is done, its ability to talk to GAL servers within the firewall is purely a function of libmapi. Since it's an IMAP folder you can remove everything and Evo will just recreate it, though it might take a while depending on your connection speed and the folder size. However if you want to remove the minimum possible, the answer will depend on your version of Evo which so far you haven't mentioned. Re: [Evolution] Evolution-Exchange on Ubuntu Jaunty
Thanks Suman. A couple of follow up questions. Our server is 2003. Do the two connectors function in such a way that I can try the MAPI connector, but switch back to OWA when needed, i.e., are they activated and deactivated like plug ins? Our domain controller/GAL server is behind our firewall. Browser access to OWA allows GAL look ups over the Internet from remote locations. Evo-OWA allows look ups over the LAN only; not from the other side of the firewall. Will evo-mapi facilitate GAL look ups remotely? That is currently my main reason for wanting to try the MAPI connector. -- Art Alexion MIS/Central Office Support Resources for Human Development - Original Message - From: evolution-list-boun...@gnome.org To: evolution-list@gnome.org Sent: Tue Apr 28 07:34:55 2009 Subject: Re: [Evolution] Evolution-Exchange on Ubuntu Jaunty On Mon, Apr 27, 2009 at 19:03, Art Alexion wrote: > I'd like to upgrade my production machine, but am concerned about either > the stability and functionality of the mapi connector, or the continued > availability of the OWA-based connector.
