Holy ...! I thought this bug was bad, but it just gets worse. Just now
my bug report was closed as a duplicate... of this bug:

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=573736

which is indeed exactly the same thing... REPORTED SEVEN MONTHS AGO!

So we've had (at least) two releases of evolution-mapi with a bug where
all you have to do is press CTRL-E and the entire contents of your inbox
will be completely destroyed, with no warning and no possibility of
recovery (except for getting backups of your Exchange server), and up
until today not only was that bug not fixed, it wasn't even marked
confirmed.

That is just... weak. Seriously weak. That bug alone should have been
a release blocker and evolution-mapi should never have gone out the door
without some kind of resolution.

You can do better.

[Evolution] evolution calendar doesn't show birthdays from ldap addressbook

2009-11-03 Thread vitaminx
Hello,

as the subject already describes I cannot find out how to make Evolution
display the birthdays stored in my ldap addressbook.

The addressbook itself is read without problems (i use the evolution
ldap scheme).

does anyone have a hint where to search or is evolution generally
incapable of reading the birthdays out of ldap sources?

greetings,

I removed the "Current Message" option from the top drop-down menu
because I felt it was confusing to use the same UI for two different
search contexts (one context being the message list, the other context
being the currently shown message). Also, "Edit -> Find in Message"
seemingly did nothing unless you were watching very closely.

Instead, the same menu item and shortcut key now open a Firefox-style
search bar in the preview pane, which is more noticeable and familiar
looking. It also makes the search UI consistent in both the preview
pane and the message reading window.

[Evolution] E-mail setup

2009-11-03 Thread Felix Ramos
People of Evolution; I am having some problems setting my e-mail for evolution.
I think I have followed the steps to set and configure evolution mail. I am
fairly new to linux. I downloaded ubuntu 9.04. I am just getting familiar
with some of the programs in ubuntu. I am not a student of computers but I am
now willing to try and understand how e-mail is configured. Since I know very
little about how e-mail works, I am not sure if I am even asking the right
questions. So I will start here, with what I am using. I use yahoo as my
e-mail. I also have windows xp. My internet service provider is comcast,
broadband. Heck I can not remember how I even set yahoo up. So if anybody can
give me any suggestion to setup my evolution I would be very greatful or turn
me on to a place where I can learn more on e-mail configuring. Thanks in
Advance Felix

I think it actually moved awhile ago. Hmmm, weird.

I just downloaded version 2.28.1 (running under Ubuntu Linux version
9.10) and find that when I try to search the current message (useful
when reading specific questions in list mailings), that option is no
longer available. I can get only "Current Folder, All Folders, or All
