[Evolution] any update on the webkit composer viewer
Hi, Would anyone have any update on the status of webkit composer viewer? I've checked planning page ( https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Evolution/Planning310), it states 3.11.x as milestone for it, and 3.11.x unstable are already available, however, there's also a note at the top that most of the tasks on planning page would be delayed to 3.12 or later. So what would be our expected release for webkit now? -- Emre ___ evolution-list mailing list evolution-list@gnome.org To change your list options or unsubscribe, visit ... https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list

Re: [Evolution] attachment.dat: pptx showing as plain text attachment
Interesting: when I send a .pptx from Win7 using Thunderbird the pptx comes through fine but there's also an 'attachment.dat' that Evolution sees as a plain text file. I talked to my colleague who's an Apple expert and he says he never heard of any problems like that with Apple. And when I Google 'Apple mail and application.dat' everything seems focused on receiving stuff on Apple from Windows (winmail.dat). ___ evolution-list mailing list evolution-list@gnome.org To change your list options or unsubscribe, visit ... https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list

Re: [Evolution] any update on the webkit composer viewer
Thanks Andre. Any idea about the composer? (if it is appropriate to ask). I've also checked the bug report (which I'm also following), but no update since some time. What happens is that you nicely view a mail and want to respond to it, but then old composer takes it in it hands and you don't get anymore what you've been viewing. Re: [Evolution] attachment.dat: pptx showing as plain text attachment
Argh! My apologies to everyone. It turns out that the emails I was having trouble with have two attachments and the second one is the proper pptx that does open in Impress. What screwed me up was that the drop-down list only showed the options for the plain text document so I never noticed that there were two attachments. Too dumb. I do appreciate that you looked it up and answered. Truly wish my memory was that good! The original problem did not include the timeout, and that was what bothered me this time. I did manage to get it fixed though, there was a version mismatch in the four dconf files. I rely on the installation manager to resolve dependencies but, this time something didn't work out. Oh, well. I understand though, about running gnome apps in KDE. Then again, I have no choice. Kmail won't stay up and running, thunderbird won't import evolution files, and evolution does everything I want, almost always without problems at all. So, I have no choice you see. On Sat, 2013-11-23 at 12:33 -0700, Bart wrote: So, I have no choice you see. Hi Bart, you've got a choice. For me it's much harder. I dislike KDE, so while switching to KDE, to get rid of all the buggy GNOME/GTK bugs, I not only will lose Evolution, my favourite MUA, I'll also will lose a clear desktop environment. KDE is unclear with tons of idiotic features, but I'm not willing to waste my time with all the GTK/GNOME bugs. I'm already using Xfce, sure, without gvfs, because I don't want to damage my hard drives and sure, all the times there are idiotic issues, I run chown/chmod and tons of other commands, just to fix, what's buggy with GTK/GNOME software. That's a no-go. I've got a perceptual disorder, so I really, really prefer to use the clear Xfce and Evolution over the unclear KDE with what ever other MUA, but IMHO, continuing to struggle with the GTK/GNOME insanity isn't worse the effort. I heard LXDE will switch to Qt. Drop what ever depends to GTK/GNOME crap that you can. I need to use some pro-audio applications based on GTK, but I already started to switch to KMail (not nearly as good as Evolution, but without all that bugs and that's more important) and KDE. I really have a very hard time with KDE now, and I take a rest using my old Xfce with Evolution at thsi moment. However, how long do you think should we wait, until GTK/GNOME stuff will work flawlessly, as it did in the good old times? IMO we should swallow the bitter pill :(. 2 Cents, Ralf PS: I'm using Linux only for more than 10 years, so I guess I'm able to gauge the situation. I don't see anything good within the close future, when continuing GTK/GNOME based environments and applications. PPS: I didn't read the whole thread, but I notice that your Evolution is outdated. You might be satisfied again, if you update all your GTK/GNOME software to current versions. IMO 3.10.2, the version I'm using, with recent GTK/GNOME dependencies, is better, than what you're using. Still not good enough for my taste, but you should test it, perhaps you'll like it. ___ evolution-list mailing list evolution-list@gnome.org To change your list options or unsubscribe, visit ... https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list
