Hi,
I would be afraid that this is the other way around, the crash could
break something in local summary, which caused the message ID mismatch,
and then eventually message's unavailability. The local message summary
can be found at:
  ~/.cache/evolution/mail//
You might see multiple folders there, one for each of your IMAP
accounts. I would try to close evolution, move the cached subfolders
folders away, and then start evolution and let it reload message
information from the server as fresh.

With respect of the crashes, did you file any bug report with a
backtrace of the crash, please? That will help to identify what was
going wrong and whether it is already fixed in more recent version of
evolution. Your 3.8.4 is not that old, though it can be better, like
3.8.5 was released too.
Bye,
Milan

Hi,
please run evolution from a terminal, like this:
   $ EWS_DEBUG=2 evolution
and then try to create a new account, also clicking the "Fetch URL"
button. The terminal will show what was sent and what was received.

If you get 404, then it means the URL it wrong. The question is whether
they have enabled the EWS protocol on your server, and whether they have
enabled the autodiscovery. IF the EWS protocol is disable, then you've
bad luck with evolution-ews, but if the autodiscovery is disabled, then
you still can fill the Host URL on your own and continue the wizard
without filling OAB URL (it is for a Global Address List) or filling the
OAB URL on your own too, if anyone else from your company will be able
to tell you the address (each server has the address different).

[Evolution] Double signatures when saving and reopening mail

2014-02-13 Thread Max

Dear Evolution-Devs,

I have the following issue:

I have configured a signature in evolution. When I start writing a mail,
get interrupted by something, save it as a draft and reopen it later,
the signature will be appended twice.

Steps to reproduce:

0. Configure Signature (Preferences > Composer Preferences > Signatures)
1. Create new mail with signature
2. Save as draft
3. Close mail
4. Reopen mail
5. Find 2 signatures

I am currently running:

Evolution 3.10.3

Linux 3.12.9-2-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jan 31 10:22:54 CET 2014 x86_64

[Evolution] Evolution 3.10 very much slower than 3.8

2014-02-13 Thread Graham Murray
I am running Evolution 3.10.4 connecting to Exchange server with EWS.

Since upgrading from 3.8.5 to 3.10.4, evolution is taking considerably
longer to perform most functions. Now it takes a very long time to
update message counts, for example in the 'junk' folder as I write this
is claims -1 unread, 0 total; but displaying 5 messages of which 4 (all
apart from the highlighted one) unread. It takes 10s of seconds to send
an email whereas with 3.8.5 it was almost instant. It is almost
continuously displaying 'Refreshing folder ' (where varies) in
the status bar.

I made no configuration changes when upgrading from 3.8 to 3.10. My PC

Hello,
evolution-ews 3.10.x uses proxy settings from within Evolution, at
Edit->Preferences->Network Preferences. I do not know from your e-mail
where you entered the proxy settings, but trying to use a manual setup
in Evolution itself should help.

Hi Milan

Yes, that is exactly where I set up the proxy settings. I am not able to access
the URL outlook.office365.com cloud server via proxy. All the other users that
make use of Outlook and the same proxy don't have any problems.

[Evolution] When replying to a Microsoft Exchange message, all formatting and colors disappear

2014-02-13 Thread Louis van Dyk
Hi

For years now I have had this frustration with Evolution.

I receive a message from someone - usually a Microsoft Exchange user -
who has formatted his message with colours and fonts. Perhaps he has
changed the colour of important words to red, or setup data in a table
with highlights. I can see the formatting in the message as I open it
in Evolution.

The moment I click "Reply", all the message history loses its
formatting. It is displayed in the "Normal" HTML Evolution font, with
no colours. Boldface seems to carry over, though.

My messages are set to use HTML composing by default.

How can I ensure that my Replies always keep the sender's formatting?

Many thanks

Hi Milan,
what about setups with multiple email accounts, where EWS email account
needs proxy, but I have several other accounts (pop3, imap) which needs

Indeed Evolution sometimes is a PITA, but on my Athlon 2.1 GHz dual-core

An unlucky typo :D. Should it be x86, aka 32-bit or x86_64, aka 64-bit?
For a "i7, 8GB RAM" I read "x86_64, aka 64-bit" ;).

Hi,
usually to https://bugzilla.gnome.org, but I would not upload the
wireshark capture, because from what you say it seems to me that there
failed something when OpenChange/samba were negotiating the profile
settings with the server. Rather run evolution from a terminal like
this:
   $ MAPI_DEBUG=15 evolution
and then repeat the Authenticate process, and see what will be printed
there. Even the Samba code knows exact error, then this is not passed
through libmapi (from OpenChange) to the caller, thus the best effort
on evolution-mapi side is to claim the password is wrong, even the exact
error can be different.

I do not know what Exchange server version you connect to, neither
whether it has enabled the EWS (Exchange Web Services) protocol, but I
would suggest to give a try to evolution-ews, which uses lighter
dependencies, quicker response and is under active development, while
evolution-mapi is in a maintenance mode currently, basically left as a
replacement of evolution-exchange, thus to have a connector for old
Exchange 2003 servers. Note that Exchange 2013 servers has MAPI disabled
by default (except of RPC-over-HTTP, but samba cannot connect this way
yet).

Hi,
you cannot. The problem is that the widget which does the HTML editing
is quite old, basically unmaintained, and does not understand styles in
HTML "code". That's why all the special styling is gone for you.

There is an ongoing effort to change the composer's widget to webkit,
the same which shows you the message in a preview panel, thus these
styling things will not be lost.

You can add yourself to [1], if you wish, to get an update on the work.

Hi,
OK, just in case, you setup a "manual proxy", and fill some proxy server
for the "secure HTTP" protocol, and then try to connect to an EWS
account? That's how it should work (maybe after evolution's restart,
just in case).

When you run evolution from a terminal like this:
   $ EWS_DEBUG=2 evolution

then you'll see all the raw communication between evolution and the
exchange server, and possibly also the reason why it cannot connect and
whether it uses the proxy or not. There is still a chance that your
Outlook users doesn't use EWS protocol, but MAPI (I have no idea how
office365.com works, what protocols are enabled there and where the EWS
server-side listens, to be honest).

I see, with 3.10.3, the "secure HTTP" is used for evolution-ews, because
when I fill it, I cannot connect to my Exchange server, but without it I
can. I also noticed that the 'Fetch URL' button doesn't use expected
addresses, thus try to skip that part and just continue in the wizard.
It doesn't use the right addresses at least to me. This might be
unrelated to your issue.
Bye,
Milan

[Evolution] evolution-mapi sync renders evolution unaccesible

2014-02-13 Thread kin...@bluewin.ch
Steps to reproduce
1) open evolution on a laptop within a windows domain, connectiing it to a mapi
source
2) put the laptop to standby
3) Move the laptop to a network outside the windows domain
4) start a syncing email
5) cancel the sync
what happens: evolution becomes unresponsive with the sync window open
expected behaviour: evolution stops the attempt and becomes avaiable again.

Right, Evolution 3.12 will let you apply alternate proxy settings to
particular accounts. I rewrote the "Network Preferences" page under
Edit -> Preferences.

[Evolution] Calendar tooltips

2014-02-13 Thread Neil Romig
Is there a possibility to display the "Location" or "Description" appointment
fields in the tooltip? Also the time always has "(24 hours)" appended even if I
use AM/PM formats... Evolution 3.8.4
