Re: [Evolution] Evolution and PDF attachments behavior

2016-09-04 Thread Marc Defossez
Hi,

Thanks for testing and confirming this!

Does somebody on the list know how to solve it?
Or at least has a direction to search?

Must say that it only happens with PDF attachments, all other attachments are
fine.

Kind regards,

Hello Marc:

I just tried something similar.  I used evolution to send a PDF to my gmail
account on my Samsung i7.  Worked perfectly.

I then used the gmail app on my Samsun i7 to send a PDF file to evolution 3.20.5
on my PC (Ubuntu 16.04).  E-mail received, but PDF file removed.

Hi,

I switched from Thunderbird to Evolution (Ubuntu 16.04 - Evolution 3.18.5.2).
It works great and just does what I need but not when PDFs are attached to mail.

This happens:
- The PDFs that came over from all converted Thunderbird mail folder
work
(the PDF is attached and can be saved or shown with a PDF reader).
- Receiving mail with PDF attachment from somebody works (the PDF is
attached and can be saved or shown with a PDF reader).
- When I send a message to myself (gmail /IMAP) with PDF attachment and:
- Open it on my phone the message shows the PDF as attachment
and
I can open it.
- After opening it on my phone open it in Evolution, inbox, it
shows a PDF attachment and I can read it.
    - When I send a message to myself (gmail /IMAP) with PDF attachment and:
- View the mail when it arrives after a couple of seconds in
Evolution, there is no attachment (Evolution does not show the attachment icon).
- When I open the mail the message text is not displayed but I
get
something like this: --=-j24mMlS90KBqBPE8CB7c--
- When I open the mail on my phone I get text message text and a
PDF as attachment.

Short:
When I send myself a mail, gmail, with PDF attachment, Evolution loses
the
mail text and PDF attachment and replaces everything with garbage.

Has somebody seen this?
Is there a solution?
Hints?

many thanks in advance,

Marc

[Evolution] change dynamically between RTL or LTR alignment

2016-09-04 Thread Pierre Poulain
Hello,

I receive about 40% of my mails in RTL (Right to Left) language (as
Hebrew and Arabic).
When I read them, Evolution display correctly (from right to left), and
when I want to reply the cursor is automatically positioned on the
right, assuming I'll reply in the same language.
But if I can read those languages, I don't write them... and I always
reply in "Latin" language (English, French or Spanish). So I need the
cursor on the left.

There is apparently no way to change this. Even if I change the
alignment button, it stays on the right. (CENTER will work. But LEFT
will do nothing).

In Thunderbird there is a plugin (or add-on) called BiDi (Bi-
Directionnal) which do the trick, but I could not find an equivalent in
Evolution.

I made some tests : if someone write to me in Hebrew, for example, from
Thunderbird, with the BiDi plugin set to "default option: RTL", then
Evolution appears to be "stuck" on RTL when reading
and replying to this specific message.
But if the Bidi plugin is set as "default option: LTR", then I can read
the Hebrew normally (RTL) but when I reply I am in a LTR way

Not sure if it can help. Anyway, the question is : Is there a way to
change dinamically the RTL / LTR behaviour, with a button or a keyboard
shortcut, as in Thunderbird with BiDi plugin ?

Apart of this ... Evolution is great (and much more responding than
Thunderbird)

Yes - configuring via GOA happily populates the calendars, but it
appears that when a GOA account is deleted, it doesn't remove them.

I did it by removing the Google account just setup (it removes a level
of confusion) and then going to .config/evolution/sources and searching
the files for the relevant calendar setup and removing them. Make sure
that *all* evolution processes are killed first though - it may even be
better to do it from a console login as root to make sure nothing is
running.

There is, no doubt, a better way of doing it, but it worked for me.

Usual disclaimers apply - you are altering evolution's private files,
if you do anything that mucks up your system, it's not my
responsibility! Carefully check that any files you are about to delete
are the correct ones.

Thanks Pete. I see that not only had I read that but I even replied to
it. I couldn't find it from the search bar because I was only looking
in the Subject lines and not the Contents.

[Evolution] IMAP-Account - new message count, but no messages

2016-09-04 Thread Michael Hirmke
Hi,

I added an IMAP/SMTP account to Evolution and got the problem, that the
new mail counter behind the INBOX shows, that there are new mails, but
in the new mail list no mails show up.
I even get a notification for new mails, but can't see them in the list.
Sending mails works as expected.

What am I doing wrong?

I use the following settings:

Receiving Email:

 Port 993

Security
Encryption method [SSL on a dedicated port]

Authentication
[Password]

Sending Email:

 Port 465
[X] Server requires authentication

Security
Encryption method [SSL on a dedicated port]

Authentication
[PLAIN]

With exactly the same settings for sending and receiving everything
works in Outlook without a problem.

Thx and bye.
Michael.
