By the way: at the moment I found out that the "memory leak" seems to
be related to setting "0" as refresh interval in the google address-
book. Let me know if it's a known issue, if I have to provide more
details here, start a new thread or file a bug.

[Evolution] Evolution 3.18.5.2 Encryption with GPG from Hotmail Account - Problem - now a bit more specific

2017-07-24 Thread adg adg82439
Hi,

I try my best to be more specific:

I use on my PC with LINUX Kubuntu 16.04 LTS and Evolution 3.18.5.2 as email
program.

When I try to use GnuPG encryption for email, I find,
if I encrypt a mail in Evolution and send it from a non Hotmail account
to a hotmail account, it is recognized in Evolution and offered me a
comfortable decrypt option.

This is fine and the way I expected.

When I answer the encrypted email from the Hotmail account in Evolution or
initiate an encrypted Email from Hotmail Account, always using Evolution as
email program - no webmail in Browser -
it receives in Evolution just as a cryptic emailtxt but not with the option
to decrypt.

I didn't set any options in hotmail webclient, just use it as an account. Are
there some options I should set?

As I do not want copy and paste the content to a file and decrypt the file,
it should be a better way, I hope.

It might be a loss of recognition when sent over Hotmail account.

Does anyone know how to handle that problem?

Thanks in advance.

[Evolution] Enabling Evolution RSS Reader Plugin

2017-07-24 Thread Mason Hock
Hi,

I am running Evolution 3.10.4 on Trisquel 7.0. I have downloaded
Evolution RSS Reader Plugin by installing evolution-rss from the
Trisquel repository. The plugin in now shows up in Evolution under
plugins, but clicking on it does not toggle between enabled and disabled
like it does for other plugins. Why might this be, and how can I enable
this plugin?

Thanks!

Mason

Hi,
the GOA-configured accounts are stored also in
   ~/.cache/evolution/sources/
but I thought you have there a leftover from a different GOA account,
thus I didn't mention it earlier.

Check both places for .source files which contain
   [Address Book]

or your user email address, basically the name you see in the GUI. One
(or more) of them will be address books, one will be the orphan.

Try to restart also evolution-source-registry, after which you might
start all other running services. The easiest might be to kill the
evolution-source-registry, then do changes in the .source files, then
run `evolution --force-shutdown`, which makes sure the background
processes and closed in the right order, even under GNOME Shell, which
keeps restarting evolution-calendar-factory, when it is lost on D-Bus.

Hi,
you are right, Evolution has no GUI to change its tool bars, menus and
so on. It's doable when modifying the .ui files directly, which
requires some experimenting, learning, searching and so on. Maybe not
suitable for average users.

> I must modify this files .ui to add or modify tool bar?

Yes.

> What is the file to modify?

Let's see. There are several files in the /usr/share/evolution/ui/. You
want to change what, the Mail view? Then there are two obvious
candidates, evolution-mail-reader.ui and evolution-mail.ui. Both have
section, but only the evolution-mail-reader.ui reflects what
you see in the GUI with most of the actions there.

I understand that seeing the file format for the first time can be
confusing, though the names are self-explanatory, from my point of
view. That's why the searching part is involved here as well.

> It's possible to put the .ui file modify into my home configuration
> folder like ~/.local/share/evolution/ui ?

Yes. That's what the bug report and the references in it say. Again,
it's more techy, thus might not be suitable for average users and is
far from being user friendly with compare of a GUI tool with drag&drop
and such things for it.

thank you for the suggestion: so I closed Evolution, then

grep GNOME ~/.config/evolution/sources/*

gave me one result only (1461768503.4127.0@source), and I deleted
it (moved elsewhere). Then,

grep 1461768503 ~/.config/evolution/sources/*

gave no results, so I started Evolution again but the item is still
there :-( could I try anything else? [tried running from command line,
but output shows no relevant info]

ok I will investigate it separately, moving to the other thread if
needed

Hi Milan,
Okay, I agree with you - it's not a bug!
On the other side; GPS coordinates are the equivalent of a classic
address...

Hi,
it looks like the address book is tight to a GOA account, maybe one
already removed, even the evolution-data-server didn't notice it
properly for some reason.

I suggest to search
   ~/.config/evolution/sources/
for all .source files which contain "GNOME Online Accounts", then
delete these files, together with all of which are referencing them
(the file name, without the .source extension, is written in the other
.source files).

That would require more data, debugging, steps... Maybe you face

Hi,
well, there is no such field to enter GPS coordinates for a contact
in Evolution, thus I would not call it a bug, especially when trying to
use fields with certain meaning to have value of other meaning.

There can be made improvements in the query construction, of course.
